Small restaurant in a neighborhood shopping center serves good food at a fair price. Nothing fancy, but well-prepared dishes. Brunch offers a nice range of options. Their bakery is excellent. Try the outdoor seating.

This place is truly a hidden gem. Drew McDonald knows his stuff. He hires great staff, offers great atmosphere, and makes incredible meals. Don't hesitate to give this place a try because you will not regret it. In fact, I will venture to guess that you will go back many times to try the other menu items that you struggled with ordering upon your initial review of the menu. This is a very professional establishment that provides excellent food, exceptional service, with safety measures that allow comfort during these difficult times.
I recommend that you try this place because you won't regret it. The food, the staff, and the service are all next level. I suggest using Resy because it will help you avoid any potential wait during these COVID times.

Meet here with some out of town guests from Germany after a recommendation from a friend ... what a find ! This smallish restaurant with outdoor and indoor seating has a limited menu BUT everything we tried was EXCELLENT ! ... reservation are appreciated as this is a small place. Owner / Chef Drew McDonald has done a great job ...

We tried to eat here but we walked into maybe 5 tables filled and he tells me if I don’t have reservations he can’t get me in for 4 hours later and shows me his iPad. It was empty but I guess they had 200 people coming in so he says. Not sure I’ll ever try this again

This was a major disappointment. I ordered halibut, one of my favorite fish. It could not have been drier. The proprietor/ manager noticed I wasn’t eating my meal and was very kind in offering any alternate. I ordered the steak frite which was a chewer’s challenge. I’m sorry to be so critical… the staff was certainly accommodating enough, but it was what it was.

I had about the worst breakfast I ever had at this restaurant. I got Eggs Benedict and it was a very unfavorable “bread” on the bottom that was soaked by wet greens on top with eggs and a small amount of sauce. The bacon that came with it was ok. Nothing great. The waitress didn’t come back in time for me to say anything so I just ate it. I was there with a friend who got sausage, eggs and biscuits. She couldn’t cut or chew the sausage and only ate two bites. We did mention to waitress who barely cared. We got bloody Mary’s and did not like them that well either. The Eggs Benedict was about $15!! Very disappointed.
I think the staff is very nice. The restaurant is nice enough.
I did notice they had someone wiping down tables and chairs very well but he was not wiping the arms of the chairs. This is a big miss
I’ve been to this restaurant once before and didn’t like it. Now I know for sure to avoid.

The Plaid Apron is the most beautiful southern style restaurant on the planet.
My two son's and I enjoyed amazing from farm to fork fresh made to order breakfast brunch.
While we was enjoying our delicious breakfast from scratch, the entire restaurant had hand masterpiece paintings from local artist that was breathtaking.
The e entire staff provided us with the best service ever.

So nice enough spot. Coffee was served um not hot. Then was told “well the cream is chilled” instead of bringing a fresh cup she microwaved it. Uncool. Coffee at breakfast is kind of a no brainer, and they could have cared less. Not sure I want to order the food.

There were 7 people in our group and we all had a great meal. My husband and I had the gluten free pancakes and they were delicious. They have specialty coffee drinks (2 had the Southern Cuban :) They also have huge cinnamon rolls! And the staff was super friendly. You can't go wrong at the Plaid Apron.

Enjoyed brunch after a nice walk along the river on Cherokee Blvd. Tried the Hash bowl and enjoyed very much. Grits, veggies, ham and a poached egg.

My wife and I stop in on Saturday morning for brunch and it was outstanding. If you are looking for a culinary brunch driven by farm fresh items you must checkout The Plaid Apron. Monkey Bread, Steak and Eggs and Brisket Benedict (with perfectly poached eggs).

A friend told us about this place.
We like trying all & any new restaurants around.
Place closes at 2. We arrived at 1 given a 30 min wait time.
Waited about 15 and was seated.
Waitress did her job well.
Menu was interesting but only had about 15 items total.
Keep in mind- southern girl born & raised here....GO VOLS
I ordered the patty melt, hubs & 16 yr old ordered the burger, 7 yr old pancakes.
Received my melt...burger had a very pink center. I NEVER eat my burgers pink. I wish I’d been told beforehand OR been asked if I wanted my burger cooked well.....
Hubs who has worked restaurants and is quick to tell me not to criticize, was very disappointed in his meal. His side potatoes had no seasoning/flavor, burger was not a good ratio but of vegetables to bun.
16 year old says this is for a minimalist/hippie/earthy type place. (Which we love fun-and have tried food from California to New York)
You may enjoy this place....go try it out and form your own opinion....as for my family-
we tried it.....

Location, service, and food are excellent. We had the Hash and the Biscuit & Gravy. Nicely presented, the dishes are appropriate for what lies within or upon. The sausage is particularly good in the gravy. The smoky meat in the hash is incredible.
We started with a macchiato. While Northern Italian style roast was apparent, which is a good start , the drunk wasn’t constructed correctly. The cream used was not correct for a macchiato.
The decor is an opportunity for improvement. Highly subjective, but the drab industrial vain decor doesn’t support the excellent food.
This establishment could easily be the best place in town with some small atmosphere adjustments. With that, it’s my new favorite breakfast in Knoxville.
