This place is delish!!!

This place is delish!!! Who knew that strawberry butter was a thing? It is really yummy on their homemade rolls. My son enjoyed the chicken n dumplings and I had a chicken salad sandwich. Both were excellent, but desert was to die for! I have always loved coconut cream pie and this was the very best that I have ever tasted. The strawberry cake was also amazing and could have been a meal itself. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Definitely eat here

This beautiful bistro is just a few blocks off of I 40 and well worth the time to eat there. On the sign it simply says DUMPLINS. You walk in to a case full of cakes and pies. You are seated in a nicely decorated room and the best waitress brings out fantastic rollls with strawberry and regular butter. The menu has a large selection of salads, sandwiches and daily specials. I had the quiche Lorraine with cheddar broccoli soup and my husband had the chicken pot pie with potato casserole, hot pineapple salad which I had never seen offered at a restaurant. They both were excellent. We took cake with us to go. I love hometown places and this did not disappoint.

Quick Lunch Stop

While visiting Jackson for a family event we stopped in at Dumplins Bistro and man was it spot on. The service was quick and efficient and the food was brought to our table quickly. Their lunch specials are wonderful. I had the Three Cheese Quiche and my wife had the Roast Beef Sandwich. Both meals ere spot on. We also decided on Potato Soup vs a salad and oh my, highly recommend the soup. If we are ever back in Jackson we will certainly stop in and grab a bite and so should you.

Good Food. Great Desserts.

Restaurant and Bakery and Catering. For some reason the young male host sat us in the very very back of the restaurant. Only two tables of 20 were occupied. He laughed at me when I paid. Maybe he thought I was a nerd. Maybe he will read this and remember me. Bayleigh was a very good server. Potato Salad has an odd taste. Not sure if I will return. For a Saturday night this location had only 5 tables occupied. Why?

Wow! Those yeast rolls!

When was the last time you went to a restaurant and were promptly served a basket of unbelievably delicious warm yeast rolls, complimentary? It happens here! Loved them, and also loved our lunches. One of of us had the salad trio, which consisted of tuna fish salad, chicken salad, and pimiento cheese, served on a big bed of lettuce, accompanied with fresh fruit pieces. My husband had the quiche of the day, which was a ham and cheese quiche, served with a side salad. Great prices, big portions, super friendly service. And he ended his lunch with a giant slab of a decadent chocolate cake-like dessert, smothered in lots of whipped cream! Whoa!

Disappointing

Would have liked to go there for a little family breakfast/lunch with our baby boy. As it was nice and sunny, we asked for a seat outside. Seating outside was denied, since one table was occupied by the boss and owner and we were not allowed to sit on the otherwise empty patio - instead we were placed in the corner of a separate room which was vacumed at the same time… So we asked for takeaway - but were left allone with the menu. We left the place. Arriving back at the car, the owner and the boss just left the patio. We moved on to Starbucks - 400ft down the road. Much more welcoming.

Positives: Nice atmosphere, good menu selection, exceptional service, outstanding rolls. Negative: Whoever cleans has neglected to clean under the cabinet piece in the room on the right side. No big deal but I asked server what was in the chicken salad and if it was sweet. She had to ask someone and reported back to me, no it’s not sweet. Then listed ingredients, mayo, sour cream, celery, salt, pepper, sugar and chicken. Note: it was sweet.

So So Lunch

We came for a late lunch while in town for a gospel music concert. We were really excited after reading some of the reviews. I'm not sure the place came up to expectations. The restaurant was clean and stylish. A nice atmosphere. The servers were not the most friendly in the world. The food was pretty average to be honest. We took a few slices of cake for dessert to go. It was disappointing. Not bakery quality. My wife did enjoy an apple dumpling as her dessert in the restaurant.

Deathtrap for food allergies

This place may sound like good home cooking, but it isn’t, and they have no cognizance of food allergies. Mashed potatoes are boxed. Veggies are canned, etc. I tried to order simple grits with cheese and mushrooms. I had to send it back once, and then it arrived covered in a season-all, which probably had MSG.

During a long cross country trip we needed to stop for lunch and just by accident found this place. What a delight, Friendly service. Bright cheery atmosphere. And great food. Delicious sandwiches, well presented. Fresh ingredients. And don't miss all the incredible baked goodies.

Wow! Delicious Crispy Apple Grilled Chicken Salad. The best I've had. The service, prices and atmosphere were all great, but the food..... was amazing! We tried to stop and as we passed through town on way home, but they were closed.

Seriously, they called it "Chicken Pot Pie"

Went to Dumplins for lunch on Wednesday with visitors from out of town because they love chicken pot pie. I have never been so disappointed in my food as I was with the "chicken pot pie". What we received was a glob of something thick and floury tasting with a few peas, carrots and if you searched carefully a piece of dried out chicken. There was no crust to any of the other 3 plates to suggest that this was a pie. When we asked the server her comment was that it most likely was the end of dish. ????? Seriously. If this is done in a casserole dish and scooped out when served than each scoop should have at least a helping of crust. There wasn't a crumb on any of the plates. I personally prefer individual pies but again even if they do each pie in a casserole dish than they need to make sure each serving is rationed correctly with a topping of crust, although I don't think it would have altered that bland cafeteria taste. This dish came with two side that had the same bland cafeteria taste as the "chicken pot pie" . They call themselves a Bistro, WOW. Nothing Bistro about cafeteria food.

Lunch Visit

After contacting an old friend about meeting for lunch, we decided on Dumplins. We were seated promptly and given ample time to peruse the menu to make our selections. The Bistro was very busy....after all it was lunch time. We were brought our drinks and bread and butter (strawberry butter too), and our order was taken Every day of the week Dumplin's has a Plate of the Day. My friend and I had a choice of three different selections. Mary chose the Chicken Divan Casserole which is Chicken, broccoli, cheese, cream of chicken base on a bed of white rice and served with soup or a side salad. She chose the side salad. I had a taste of her casserole and it was very good. She was pleased with her entire meal. I opted for the Chicken Bryan wihich is a boneless chicken breast smothered with mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, and goat cheese and served over a bed of white rice, served with choice of two vegetables of which I chose green beans and sweet potato casserole. Oh my goodness! The sweet potatoes were absolutely the best I have ever had. The topping on the chicken of the mixture of mushrooms and tomatoes and goat cheese was very, very tasty. I ate EVERY bite of my meal. Unfortunately, due to the deliciousness of our entrees, we were unable to have room for dessert on this day. The strawberry cake looked scrumptious! I would highly recommend dining here. Service was prompt and food was delicious.
