Have not been to Old Hickory for a while.... I now remember “why”. The service was really good during lunch. The food.... well... not so good. Ordered the fried catfish and it was not at all fresh- seemed like a large batch was made and...food was microwaved or sitting under heat lamp for extended time. The filets were “rubbery” and chewy. Flavor was bland and nothing for mention. My sides were corn and Mac n’ cheese - also bland. The best part of the food was the hush puppies. Could I have sent my food back, yes.. did I, NO. I simply won’t go back.More

My chicken fried steak was extremely thin and dry; the gravy made it somewhat edible. My husband’s baked ham was also thin & dry but with no benefit of gravy. The chicken curry soup tasted like someone took a can of cream of chicken soup...and threw in some curry, then accidentally dropped a full shaker of salt in it. I don’t understand all the good reviews!More

I read the other reviews of this place to find a stop for lunch. Don't miss this restaurant. It may need a facelift - but who cares - the chef makes the best brown gravy and fried porkchops we have had in years. Home cooked...food served piping hot. We just wish this restaurant was located in our hometown.More

I enjoyed the properly Med-Rare cooked steak. Got another to take home, well, what I didn't eat. Salad was sorta missing something, but tasted very good. I will be back.

We recently ate here for the first time. We each had a sirloin steak and they were cooked just as we ordered. Also they were surprisingly tender. The potato was hot and well baked. The potato comes with butter and sour cream and if you...want anything else such as cheese there is an additional charge. I believe is was $1.50 or $2.00 to make it a loaded potato. The salad was head lettuce, 2 small tomatoes, and s slight sprinkling of cheese. Everything was good but nothing was outstanding. Friends had the fried fish dinner and enjoyed it. It was a plate full of fish, fries, cold slaw, and hush puppiesMore

Had a family get together here. At least ten of us. From babies to grandparents. Something on the menu for every one. Reasonable prices, good food, great service.

Pretty good ribeye with a good flavor I've had better. Salads were generic. Waitress was not too friendly at first but she got better as the meal went on. The atmosphere was nice for dinner. It was just ok...not bad but not great either...

It's ok I guess, I will not be coming back but someone may like it. The steak is large but taste kind of different. Almost like it is cooked in gravy or something. I don't like it. Service slow.
