If you are like me and prefer to eat at local, off the beaten path, mom and pop, quirky kinda place... then the Dixie Castle is for you!
Located 1/2 block from the courthouse square in Jackson, Tennessee (the very spot where the great...Alamo defender Davey Crockett said "You can all go to hell, I'm going to Texas!) You need to get off the interstate.
The Dixie Castle is a throwback diner looking place, mismatched tables and chairs, paneled walls from the '70s, and waitresses that make you feel like old friends.
The menu is pretty simple, one sheet front and back, dominated by steaks.
So we had steaks!
I had an 8 ounce ribeye, it was tender and tasty and cooked perfectly. Along with a salad, baked potato, and Texas toast, it was a very good meal.
I'm so glad we found this hidden gem on TripAdvisor!More
Dixie Castle is a dinner type place. It’s been in same spot for decades. The staff is very nice, the food is really good and fairly priced, and the place is really clean. I ordered the large ribeye and it was cooked perfectly, the meat...quality was really good, and it was very fairly priced.More
Located in downtown Jackson, it is a good place to grab a bite while taking care of business. It is typical daily specials but I chose a BLT sandwich instead. I also chose the potato salad instead to the crinkly fries. Good choice. The server...was attentive and the food came out quickly. The BLT came with Texas toast as the bread and I requested that it be toasted. The bacon was plentiful and crispy.More
Met my father at the restaurant for supper. Our waitress was at the table to take our drink order by the time we were seated. Meal order was taken just as quickly. The salads were fresh. Our steaks arrived just as we finished our salads...and were prepared just as we had ordered them. They were delicious. Also it was very pleasant to run into friends there and be able to touch base with them.More
Nothing fancy about this place. Good southern cooking at fair prices where the locals working in downtown Jackson go for lunch. A diner like atmosphere where the city works employee is at the table next to the bank president.
