In town for a convention. The diner is only a couple blocks away from convention center. Great service, delicious food, huge menu, large portions.

We are from out of town, and we had a wonderful, filling breakfast this morning at City Café Diner. We only waited 10 minutes before being seated (not bad for a Sunday at 10:30AM). The hostess and waitress were attentive and friendly. My son and...I each ordered the "breakfast special" which had a variety of items all delicious (pancakes with either fruit or chocolate chips), 3 eggs (cooked perfectly), grits, home fries, sausage, and bacon, all for $12.95! We added some great coffee and oj. What a deal!!!! I would return in a heartbeat! Great job, City Café Diner!!!More
And don't forget to leave room for dessert! I've never seen so many cakes, pies and cheesecakes offered under one roof! The food was very good-plenty to select from-all wait staff was very friendly!
Some of the worst food I've had for dinner and the higher diner prices make you think it would be way better. Started with wings which weren't tossed in sauce but drenched in them so couldn't really taste the wing itself. Stupidly I got manicotti...which was drenched in generic tasteless, watery sauce. It had so much cheese on top I could barely see the noodles. The ricotta was very bland and the noodles were not good at all. My wife had the chicken chipotle panini, which I figured you can't screw up, nope it was so dry and just really tasteless. We got the Reese cheesecake to go which is basically all regular cheesecake with a very thin peanut butter tip, it was pretty good. Overall i think the large menu leads to very rushed and not well prepared meals.More
The diner is a throwback to the 50's with neon lights, and old style decorations. They have a variety of foods for most pallets. I had the Reuben Sandwich which was very good. The fries were nice and crispy. They have a variety of desserts,...but I was too full to take advantage of those. The place does a lot of carry out and door-dash deliveries so paying at the register took a little time as there is only one station to handle all that, but the wait wasn't too bad.More
I ate both breakfast and lunch here on different days. Both meals were excellent. The breakfast consisted of eggs, country ham, and whole wheat toast. Beware, the dessert case at the front of the restaurant is amazing. They offer a large variety of pies and...cakes which are large.More
Breakfast dishes were par for the course. Dinner entrees were poor for the course. Overcooked tasteless flounder with overcooked veggies. Broiled salmon came out with a long black hair draping it. Then took 20 minutes for substitute. Way over salted- again with mushy vegetable side....No reason to go back except possibly for pancakes.More
Great restaurant that I will return to. Their portions are ginormous!!!! (Big). Real big The food had an awesome taste. I would stay away from home fries. The only reason I didn’t give a 5 was the service. They could have done a little better....Drinks are $3.15More
We have been here several times for breakfast as well as dinners. This place is always buzzing which in itself is testimonial to its success. This diner has a very extensive menu including a huge selection of desserts especially cakes! Portions are huge! The staff...are always kind and swift to seat us and as soon as diners get up to leave, the tables are quickly cleared, cleaned and made ready for the next diner! Our orders are always promptly served. We will keep coming backMore
Extensive menu, food was okay and portions were plentiful. I had the veggie wrap and hubby had the patty melt. We split a piece of key lime pie for dessert. They aren’t reinventing the wheel but it was solid diner food.
We went for our first time during our Anniversary trip on a Saturday morning. Th. e place was really buzzing but we got seated almost immediately. Our waitress was wonderful. Friendly, vibrant, and really on top of things. Our food was fantastic as was our...experience. So much so we returned the very next day. Our Sunday experience wasn't near as good. Our waitress, (a different waitress) had trouble remembering to return to the table and first get our drinks and then to get our order. Several tables around us were having the same trouble. She would literally disappear. She almost took our order before the table beside us that had been there a lot longer than us. Our food came out cold and took so long that we almost lost our appetite. We will be back but only because we believe Sunday to be a fluke and not Saturday. And the food is really good! Hot or cold!More
Ate here twice on our visit to Chattanooga. Old school, friendly staff, good food. The pies were delicious. Popular with locals .
Great value, great food, great server's. Soooo many sweets to choose from, I had to buy extra to take home. The fiesta omelet was fantastic.
My wife, mom, and two nieces (9 and 7) were looking for a hearty lunch to please everyone after visiting Ruby Falls and found this place with a quick online search. Parking was easy … a huge plus! Our waitress was super and got the...kids’ orders in first while we adults looked over the extensive menu. One kid loved the Mickey pancakes with bacon and the other (the picky eater) ate almost all of her grilled cheese with fries. Total winner already! Then us adults got our food: a Reuben with onion rings, pastrami with onion rings, and eggs with sausage and a pancake. All of those also delivered. We also were able to get some drink refills to take back to our Airbnb. Again, our waitress was just on top of everything and so friendly. Loved this place and would come back to Chattanooga just to eat here again!More
We waited over 35 minutes for our order while folks who came later got their food first despite our notifying staff. A young waitress also used vulgar language when we asked for management. Sorely disappointed.
