Went to Sportsman on a "prom" weekend and while it was busy, wife and I ended up eating at the bar. Older bartender/manager gentleman with glasses, greeted us and provided excellent service. Even referred us to the "Burger of the Week" it was outstanding! Cant...say enough good things about this place...Will be back!!More
Brought my family in during dinner rush on friday night. Restaurant was full but we found a table in the bar area. The older bartender with glasses greeted us and was very accommodating despite how full the bar was. He was kind to my kids...and even cracked a few jokes. Food was incredible and the atmosphere is very unique. Definitely bringing my family back.More
I can't even begin to explain how rude the gray headed manager was to us on Mother's day at 5pm with very few diners in the restaurant!! We waited over 15 minutes with 2 other parties for a hostess to seat us. I finally went...looking for a Manager. He laughed in my face, said they had no hostess, told me never to snap at him again and literally walked off. We left and went to eat at Cajun Steamers!! This dude needs to be fired IMMEDIATELY! This restaurant had been a favorite of my husband and I for years. We brought our family there to share it and this guy completely fails at his job! We will never go back as long as he works there!!!!!More
The wife and I went here about once a month because we enjoy their burgers, the lodge vibe and the frosty mugs they serve beer in but we had possibly the worst dining experience ever our last night.
We walked in with another couple and...stood in the lobby some 10 minutes waiting for someone to either seat us or put our name on a waiting list. Since the place was only half full, we have no idea where the hostess was.
Once finally seated, we sat for another 10 before a waiter came by. We put in a drink order and it was another 10-15 before we got our beers. All had way too much foam like they were having issues with their taps but we went with it. The mugs were not frozen but no biggie.
Another 10-15 minutes pass and we finally put in our orders. We asked for silverware and napkins since none were on the table.
Three of us got burgers. One got the catfish basket. Food arrives but still no silverware or napkins so we ask again. The waiter brings back silverware for only the catfish guy so I had to borrow his knife to put mayo on my burger which was over-cooked.
We order a second round of beer and the mug my wife gets has a big chip on the rim so she sends it back. Again, none of the beers are close to full when we get them.
So we’re eating away and I look down into my mug right before taking the final swig and there’s a chunk of glass in there the size of a dime. We tell the waiter who immediately apologizes and says he will talk to the manager.
Next thing we see is the waiter handing us the check. He said the manager removed the cost of one burger. The manager never came over to apologize. The waiter didn’t bother to clear the empty plates.
We normally would rank this place four stars based on previous visits but this visit was a zero star experience so we’ll not be going back anytime soon and never again on a Saturday night.More
Stopped at Sportsmans Lodge when we were in town on our way home from vacation. Really liked the atmosphere and the rustic look. Our server Clayton was so friendly and attentive. We had ordered the teriyaki ribeye dinner and a bbq chicken salad dinner. That...was the best steak we've ever had and the salad was excellent. Dessert was the carrot cake cheesecake and that was awesome as well. Wish we had one of these restaurants in Michigan. I highly recommend this place and if you go there ask for Clayton for your server. :)

I usually pop into this place when I come into town. I love the bar and how the dining room is a huge expansive “Viking hall”. I know my friends and I take full advantage of their happy hour. I was in last month for...1 beer and ended up having much more. Highly recommend. Not a 5 because I truly believe they aren’t maximizing the potential of this establishment.More
This was a Friday night during the dinner rush. The carnival atmosphere started at the front door. A barely dressed hostess had no help. The 8 visible available tables never did fill up while we were there. Table service was prompt. Then... I have had...some sorry overpriced food before, but this place takes the cake. House salad was routine, old, chopped greens with a few decorative chopped veggies. Kabobs were COVERED with ?sauce? and at $26, were overpriced. The steak and biscuits were the second worst I have had, and I get them when they are on a menu, anywhere. The worst so far were those at Cracker Barrel. Cheap meat and canned biscuits. Here, they only served three (not the minimum of 4), 3 s&b's for $15. The meat was stated to be "filet", but that was a loose description. The line cook took this bad cut of meat and seared it to overdone and charred on a flat plate griddle using a flat iron on top to char both sides at once. I ordered medium, but that made no difference to the cook. I literally could not bite into the second one after struggling to grind through the first. Both the s&b's and the fries were not even warm. The butter I asked for after the dish was served dry, would not melt under the biscuit. The waitress saw her tip slide down the hill when I told her I could not eat my dinner and would not pay for it. She wanted to redo the order. (Why don't restaurant operators realized that if one dish is screwed up, that screws up the experience for everybody. I did not want to wait for another screwed up order.) Her personality went from eager server to get out of here rude.More
