Decided to treat my son, who is a senior, to brunch at RED - he had never eaten there so decided it was high time to take him to a fine dining restaurant. First off, wait staff was not attentive - they were not really...busy, however, we were not on their radar as took a bit to place our order and was not offered refills or asked about our meal until we were done. It was sort of like we were'n't there. I did notice the table close to us had to wait a while before they received their check as well. The food was average - nothing special. Our previous meals and wait staff have been good - we must have went on an off day, which is unfortunate because I wanted to show him a fine dining experience.More

Hi Jay, This is disappointing to hear. I will certainly share this with my staff. We want everyone leaving RED feeling like they just had a great meal with friends. It is clear we fell short of the mark. I always appreciate candid feeback as...More

We very much enjoyed our meal at Red steakhouse. I had the prime rib which was prepared very well and we thought the mac & cheese was exceptional. However, the apple cobbler was the icing on the cake. It was so good I took an...order to go to give to my dad. The lamb chops were well prepared. The wedge salad and French onion soup were delightful. And we participated in the oysters. They were also very good. We felt that the prices were reasonable given the high level of service and quality. If you call ahead, you can get reservations. We had a lovely evening.More

Took a quick trip north for a new atmostphere. The hostess was very nice and friendly. The rest of the staff? Not so much. Never really felt welcome. The food was good enough... I just thought for an upscale restaurant we would have had better...service. Disappointing dining experience.More

Had a very nice dinner tonight at Red. Had the spicy calamari as an appetizer. It was really good, especially for a small town in SD. Our salads were all good, but we kinda wished they gave you bread with them. Wife had a large...filet steak, it was cooked perfect, and she said it tasted great. Son had the Oscar salmon. Although it’s a popular dish, my son said the sauces were a little different. Probably just because he is 14, and eats school lunches😂... I had the strip loin steak. It was very tender, cooked perfect, and had great flavor. I had the hash browns as my signature side. They were definitely homemade, and delicious. Our server was decent. We really didn’t go without anything. The only nitpick I could muster up, is that I asked her for 57 sauce, and she brought me A-1 or the house made equivalent. She just dropped it at the table, not explaining that they didn’t have what I asked for. Not a big deal. Just a younger generational oversight. We will go back. It was a very enjoyable evening in Vermillion.More

Best steak in area, service excellent! Voodoo shrimp appetizer is unforgettable, peppery kick. Triple chocolate cake is to die for! Building is an old bank, nice atmosphere, you will enjoy it

Can't say enough about our first experience dining in Vermilion. The steak was perfect, and so was the hospitality. My advice to anyone dining at this restaurant is to make sure you try the special drink of the night. It was amazing. Apparently the bartender...is very well known for his creative drinks and we were not disappointed. Can't wait to go back.More

I have been to Red four times and always come away impressed. This time it was crowded for USD graduation so we sat at the bar. The bartender was great, very knowledgeable about both drinks and the food. Our meals were excellent (grilled salmon and...pork tenderloin). Red hit it out of the park again!More

Stopped in on a weeknight for an early dinner before a meeting. Staff was very accommodating with our request for prompt service - food was delicious. I ordered salmon Oscar - cooked just the way I ordered, with crab (real, not imitation), Hollandaise sauce, and...roasted Brussels sprouts and asparagus, with a side of delicious tomato bisque. Associate ordered steak (filet) and had nothing but good things to say as well. We did not order drinks or wine with dinner, but the wine list, while not extensive, had several varieties that were great options. Beautiful, elegant surroundings in a former bank building and friendly host....we'll be back.More
