My husband and I visited The Walpole whilst in holiday, for Sunday lunch. We had been once before with friends on a previous holiday in the area. The restaurant area was very quiet, only one other couple eating. We were given a friendly welcome, shown...More

We enjoyed another lunchtime meal at the Walpole Arms. The food and service are consistently good. It is a pleasure to go to a pub where the drinks are served correctly and with pride.

Family Sunday lunch - absolutely perfect, one of the best roast dinners I've ever tasted. Service was excellent, fine ambience and a beautiful location. Ticks all the boxes and we will certainly recommend and return.

Dear Katie B I was sitting at the table next to you on the occasion to which you refer. With reference to your statement "Only when we complained did anyone seem to notice and then we had just an apology - not even the offer of a free coffee make up for the bad service and time we had to wait." I know for a fact that if you take the trouble to check with your companions, particularly the person who actually settled the bill, you will find that the restaurant, as well as offering profuse apologies at the time, also took the cost of ALL of your drinks off of the bill in way of recompense. I suggest that, particularly given that all your previous experiences have been good, by your own admission, you think twice before publishing such a negative and potentially damaging review. I can only think that you have never made any mistakes yourself over your lifetime. Terry P

The Walpole Arms, Itteringham, dating back to the 18th century is a traditional country pub, sitting within the heart of north Norfolk's picturesque countryside in the village of Itteringham. Itteringham stands on the River Bure, four miles north west from the market town of Aylsham and just two miles from the National Trust's magnificent Blickling Hall. We pride ourselves on offering an innovative and exciting menu, preparing dishes using the highest quality, locally produced, seasonal ingredients. Our traditional bar area is full of country pub charm, with a wood burner warming up cold winter nights, welcoming both diners and non-diners alike, whether it is a pint of one of our many real ales such as Woodfordes Wherry, Adnams Southwold, a glass of wine from the extensive wine list, or a meal from our a la carte menu.
