Edgar's is located in downtown Elk Point. If you are traveling on I-29 on the outskirts of town, it is definitely worth a slight detour off the interstate to stop by. Part of the building contains gifty items and another part houses a drug store with standard fare. This place isn't a restaurant, so do not expect sandwiches and steak.... More

There is this little ice cream shop in the middle of this dead town from what I remember. It was really good and I remember the soda float was one of the best I have had. I was there in 1999.

My husband and I explored this while taking a "close-to-home" vacation for our anniversary, and it was definitely my favorite stop of the weekend. There is no "lunch" served, so come prepared to indulge your sweet tooth and leave thoughts of healthy sustenance for another time! The "old-fashioned sodas" are absolutely delicious, and for 50 cents a pop (no pun... More

A real old fashioned soda fountain - they make their own sodas and phosphates and they are delicious. They also have really cute gift items in different parts of the store. I had a mini banana split that was really good. My husband had a ice cream treat, then had a cherry coke phosphate - best cherry coke you will... More

This sweet old-fashioned soda fountain is inside a trendy gifty shop. You can buy sundaes made with recipes from years gone by and slurp through them in authentic glass dishes, while reading the history of the place on the back of the menu. Unfortunately, our soda jerks were too young (teens) to know much about the historic significance of the... More

On a freezing cold day -6 with -22 wind chill factor, why not? Authentic glass dishes for delicious hot fudge sundaes in a beautiful room decked with Christmas decorations beside the pharmacy. The soda fountain has been there since 1906 and still looks great - especially with the gorgeous Christmas decoration surrounding it.

These places started disappearing in the 50's. How and why this is still here in the otherwise quiet little town of Elk Point is beyond me. It features real soda fountain delights from the good old days, prepared by trained soda jerks. If you have never had a phosphate, give it a try. The root beer floats are superb. Turn... More

Not too many of these fun small-town soda fountains left. This is a fine one, you can swivel around on your counter-stool and see the drug store behind you as your treat is prepared. And, yes, they do know how to make a chocolate soda (one of the tests of authenticity). Also, this is right on Main Street in Elk... More

This is a gem that unless you know it is there you will miss it. It is located in a small town and has the small time feel. I walked in and was immediately greeted and asked how they could help me. I asked what they recommended and they recommended the old fashion soda. They made it right in front... More

I stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon with my family, including two kids. We ordered a root beer float, a turtle sundae, and a brownie sundae. All were excellent, and service was quick and friendly.
