We decided spur of the moment to head out one evening for some appetizers. We decided to try the Coal Yard. The inside is such a surprise. The seating was great and the building is rustic. Brick walls, wood flooring, and great ambiance. We got the sampler appetizers which included mozzarella sticks, fried mushrooms and chicken fingers. They were ok.... More

I used to go to the Coalyard as a volunteer EMT on the York Rescue Squad and it was just OK, back in 2003 or so - we went there because it was right next to our station. I've avoided it for years because it was "just OK" back in the day. I recently had an opportunity to eat there... More

Even though they do have food there isn't a huge variety and it's typical bar fare. I would say the Coal Yard is probably more for drinking than eating. I don't dislike the food, it's decent. It's a nice hangout. They do have live music some nights. I don't go often because I'm not a big drinker, but if you're... More

The food was pretty lousy. I don't like going to a restaurant that doesn't serve tasty food. I feel most people go here to drink. Since I was not there for that reason, I was less than impressed.

Went there for dinner on Wed nite but the kitchen wasn't open so we stayed for a drink. It was the best drink I ever had. Chocolate silk cake I think. The bartender was awesone. Def will go back

I had never been to this restaurant. My husband had been years ago. It's clean, great decor, friendly wait staff. My husband had his standard burger that he said was delish if on the small side. The house chips with ranch dip as a side were very good. I opted for the salad bar. Everything was fresh. There aren't a... More

I have lived in York County 23 years and never stopped at the Coal Yard. What a pleasant surprise. Large outdoor covered deck would be great if it wasn't 100 degrees outside. Inside was dark which reminded me of a true pub type atmosphere. Bar seated 6 to 8 people. We sat at the bar. Happy Hour was great and... More

The steak is a 14 oz. Ribeye and it was cooked perfect (medium rare). The salad bar has great mix of greens. The employees were professional and know their menu. I will come back here again!

We had dinner here. The chicken sandwich was good, fries were warm. steak was a bit tough and salad did not seem fresh. Biggest complaint was server was talking with her friends most of the time and we had to ask for more tea and the check. There were 5 tables and 2 had her friends at them, others 3... More
