We celebrated our 43rd anniversary tonight. Allison was our waitress and she treated us like we were her only customers! The Trigger Fish is SUPERB!!! Bake potatoes were hot, fresh, and soft. The butter, cheese, bacon, and sour cream come individualized now instead of on...the lazy Susie. Then Allison brought us a piece of the most scrumptious strawberry shortcake! Unbelievable meal. Fabulous service and even better food. A steak you would expect at one of the “name” steakhouses for much less. One of our company also had the trigger fish which looks delicious as well. There’s a reason this place has been in business...for more than 40 years and tonight I learned why!More

Went to the Peddler Restaurant, but no where to park on a Friday night, December 26th. I had not been to the Open Hearth in years, and I hear Mike Gallagher, "radio talk show host" talk about this restaurant often on his show, so decided...to call and see if they had an opening. We were lucky, they had 1 table available. We were seated immediately and it is a very nice restaurant inside. My sister and I both ordered fish, she had Trigger fish, and I had Halibut. My halibut was overcooked, and even though I was a little disappointed, I didnt say anything since it was a special occasion. My sister and I both thought the food was just average. I hope this is unusual for this restaurant, because it has a really good reputation.More

Friends of ours wanted to go to dinner and we suggested Open Hearth because for some reason it seems out of the way for us, but it really isn't. I titled the review you can always count on The Open Heart because it is that...simple. We have never had a bad meal here. The food is very consistent and delicious. They have the best Fried Chicken and they are known for their steaks and fish too. I would ask them to carry Belevedere Vodka which they don't and I do think it's the best. This night we had the Fried Chicken and the Triggerfish both were excellent and came with salad and a side. Great food in a comfortable atmosphere makes Open Hearth a great reason to dine out.More

Outstanding! We have not been here in years but we will come more frequently! Elaine was our waitress and she is FABULOUS! We started with the Lobster Bisque then had the Porterhouse with steamed broccoli, asparagus, brussel sprouts and carrots with a homemade roll. Steak...was cooked perfectly and was so tender and delicious. My husband had the Chicken medallions that were so tender and delicious. For dessert we were given scrumptious Strawberry Shortcake and I had their AWESOME Key Lime Pie. The atmosphere is fabulous with music playing softly and candle on the table with a fresh red rose just really set a wonderful ambiance. Thank you everyone for your hard work. We appreciate it.More

I have a new place to celebrate special occasions or just to have a fabulous meal. We drove about 30 minutes on a Friday evening and it was worth every traffic light we endured to get there. From the time we walked in until we...left, we were treated very friendly, respectfully, and with delightful energy from Allison. We will certainly ask for her again. We started with Cupcake Moscato, fabulous salads, my son substituted his salad for French Onion soup. The dinner came and was way more magnificent than I ever expected. I love that they place a carousel with condiments for baked and sweet potatoes. We each were able to put in our potatoes what we wanted. The rib-eyes and porterhouse were some of the best steaks we have had and yes we have eaten at some very fine steakhouses. I would put mine up to any other steak sold near or in Greenville, however, I devoured it too quickly. We finished up with delicious coffee and shared desserts. My husband and I loved the coconut custard pie and my son and mother shared the key lime pie. They both said it was fantastic. I hate I didn’t take pictures of the restaurant, my family, or the food. We were just living in the moment and left with great memories. Thanks mom for the treat! Thanks Allison for the phenomenal service - even calling me back to get the rolls my mom wanted for her leftovers. We will be asking for you next time and I promise there will be a next time.More

OMG, nothing but excellent food, service,family friendly. Ribeye steak was fantastic, best I’ve had in awhile. Complimentary short cake (strawberry) for birthday son. Will return soon.

Service was great and greeted at the door what I felt to be the owner or manager at least. Cozy place and quiet for a nice dinner. Bottle of wine was very good but then it began to slide. My wife enjoyed her Greek chicken...but my filet was dry with no taste not even a char grill taste. Salad was just fair and the baked potato was good with all the things to go with it. But everything crashed when I finished with the southern pecan pie and it tasted like frozen mrs Edwards pie from the grocery frozen food section. Really need to make the filet better and really improve on the pecan pie for $5. What started off to be a great night crashed quickly.More

Visited my mother in Greenville and we went to Open Hearth, an institution in Greenville. Well, why was this my first visit??! It was great. My mother told me her Supper Club goes to Open Hearth, and many of them order the fried chicken or...Greek chicken. I got the fried, because the server told me she liked it best. It was great: hot, crispy, peppery, great flavor. She was right. My mother enjoyed the salmon salad, which had a really nice sized salmon filet on top of greens and other salad fixins. We both enjoyed a nice glass of chilled Chardonnay. There were a good many peole in the restaurant, just an indication that it's a popular place. I had a wonderful time with my mom: the noise level was low, the lighting just right, very comfortable and relaxing time, the server was so very pleasant. And the food was GREAT. I'll go back.More
