I was expecting a NY deli, but it wasn’t. The bakery products look exquisite, but the ones we chose were dry. The Reuben was also tough, so all in all, it didn’t live up to it’s reputation - at least for us.

The food was amazing, and worth it, but the prices were very high, and the customer service was really bad, our cashier was really rude. But the food was definitely worth it!! And I don’t think all of the cashiers are that rude.

I told the cashier that this would likely be my only meal of my busy day. She explained options and presented me with a beautiful breakfast plate which included pan fried potatoes (NO SOY!!) and a lovely omelet with spinach, tomatoes, bacon, topped with sliced...avocado with a side of 9 grain toast.More

The service wasn’t really good with the people not even acknowledging you and letting you wait for a while (we don’t mind waiting but at least let us know you are going to get to us...). The food looked good and there was a large...selection but none of the 4 items we ordered was actually good. The coffee was just okay, the French croissant with cream filling was probably the worst as the cream was so salty that it was actually uneatable, the danish with raspberry jam was very very sweet with a layer of jam too big (and mostly sugar) and additional crunchy sugar grains for decoration not nice when you are eating, and last, the onion bagel had way too much onion and most of them not cooked enough which made them soft instead of crunchy. Being generous in the portions is great but too much in that case was detrimental to the baked goods. I really hope that someone messed up the salt today for the croissant because it was really way too salty, I tried going back inside to let them know but after waiting a little without anyone acknowledging me I just left.More

We happened upon this place for an afternoon pick-me-up, which turned out to be an enormous slice of their cream cake and a danish with coffee. The desserts are incredible just to look at! Such a selection!

Tomato pie crust was not cooked all the way, it was gummy and it was not heated up all the way either, it was cold in the middle. The beet salad was very tasty, the monte cristo was basically sweet french toast and VERY salty...lunch turkey and ham. The coffee really good! I was here a couple times before and had the deli and never came back til today and I think that's it.More

Oh my goodness! On my 1st visit today, I ordered a slice of tomato pie. The portion was HUGE! It was mouth watering with just the right amount of seasoning. I also got a rum cake, which was equally divine! If you haven't tried this...restaurant, it needs to be next on your list. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, so there is something for everyone. Be sure to take a look at the cakes. I think almost all of them are 10" thick or taller!! This is comfort food on steroids, folks! Although limited in seating area, food choices are UNlimited! Portion sizes are huge and prices are reasonable. Charleston Bakery & Deli is an authentic lunch spot. It also has the best cheesecake in Charleston. We used them for our wedding cake, they went over and above for a great experience!
