Wow, I read a lot of 4 and 5 star reviews for this place so had high expectations. They were not met. Typically when we approach a bbq spot we can smell the smoke. We smelled none which was a reflection of the food; we...tasted no smoke on the ribs or pulled pork. Wife got ribs which were so dry as to be inedible. I got pulled pork which smelled a little off though with enough mustard sauce I could eat half of it. Was told that the coleslaw was made in house. After looking at it and tasting it, I am not convinced. Potato salad was ordinary like what you'd get at a grocery store. Portions size was good and prices reasonable but I'd rather have a lighter wallet and happier taste buds.More

I’ve tried the ribs and pulled pork sandwich only. Both were as good as I’ve had and that’s saying something because l have eaten bbq all over this country. I am so tired of people serving baby back ribs and calling it bbq. The ribs...and pulled pork are so similar to Memphis bbq which is my favorite. I ordered the pork sandwich with a side of regular slaw which again is like Memphis slaw.(sweet and milky)First I topped the pork with red bbq sauce and then topped that with a big helping of slaw and then more bbq sauce.Just like they do it in West Memphis for the best sandwich anywhere.(Be sure to have the barbecue sauce and slaw drooling over the edges and then you know you’ve applied enough)Dry rubbed ribs were my choice. Finally a place to eat real bbq ribs in Spartanburg.More

I was staying a nearby hotel called to place a to go order an hour before closing and had to reassure the girl at the other end of the phone we would be there before they closed. We actually ended up getting there and having...to wait for our food. We ordered a combination plate with sausage and ribs with hush puppies and onion rings as sides. And a chicken breast with green beans. We also had the banana pudding and wet chocolate cake for dessert. All were okay, not great. The ribs were tasty, but not fall off the bone tender. The chicken breast was on the border of dry. The sausage was the best meat of the meal. The best part of the entire meal were the hush puppies. The hush puppies were golden brown, cooked through and only the outer layer was crunchy. The banana pudding is worth the dollar it costs. If I’m back in the area again I would consider ordering from here again.More

Stopped here the other day while spending a weekend in Spartanburg. I had the ribs and my wife had the chicken "hash" (which was totally new to us from North Carolina). In these Covid times, they had close off about 1/2 tables per law (I...guess). The available tables were clearly marked. The food came out quickly and was good. The ribs were tender - just borderline mushy- but still good. My wife enjoyed the hash. Sides were tasty. Drink service is self-serve. There was plenty of hand sanitizer around the restaurant. We paid with credit card - but no place to leave a tip. Luckily I had some cash to drop in the tip jar.More

I drove by here one day on my way to another unit. I get excited when I see a BBQ place. So the following Friday when I got off work, I decided I would stop by after work. I arrived about an hour before closing....There is still a crowd here. They have sit down dining but I just want to grab my food and go. I go up and place my order to go. I am from NC where the best BBQ on the planet comes from. When one talks about best BBQ cities/states..no where is SC mentioned. Thats because they use a mustard based sauce which is..well..wrong. so I'm hesitant to eat SC Q. But I'm glad to say the q here..is tops. I get their pulled pork sandwich. It comes with fries and I get baked beans. And I'm happy as they have red slaw..or bbq slaw..which is the correct slaw for BBQ. I also get a piece of their strawberry cake. Lord..let me tell you...this is good stuff. It is a vinegar based sauce and wow. My tummy is happy. The food...perfect. And dining here is easy on the wallet. They are located near West Gate mall and about 15 minutes from downtown. They do have plenty of free parking.More

We eat at Bubbas quite often, primarily a late lunch/early dinner. I am surprised how many customers are there at 2:30- 3:00. I am a soup and sandwich guy and like their Brunswick stew and the turkey, bacon ranch sandwich. The sandwich is warm and...is the best I have had anywhere. My wife loves their brisket, when available. Otherwise she will order ribs, or grilled chicken. The B&B Combo Plate is great with chicken and pulled pork. The staff is friendly and treat you right. You cannot go wrong with Bubbas.More

Ohhhh yeahhhh! I tend to steer away from BBQ places because it’s so incredibly hit-or-miss regarding flavor and contentment. I recently relocated from Mississippi to Spartanburg, and anyone who may be familiar with real southern cookin’ knows that it begins with a bunch of delicious,...cholesterol-latent soul food. My girlfriend and I have tried just about any and all “southern cookin” restaurants since we moved here a month ago and have not found a single legitimate restaurant that meets Miss’ssippi standards (which aren’t healthy by any means, but certainly yummy to my tummy) until now. I was blown away by Rebecca’s hospitality and boisterous personality! She’s pretty darn awesome. Since it was an hour before closing time, the crowd was not too overly steady for my lady and I to sample a handful of the side dishes offered before we ordered. Rebecca also made sure to make us feel welcome through our venture of curiosities, although I still felt awkward asking to try a bite of different things...but every dish I tried was SO DELICIOUS that I needed more! I was so impressed; I wanted to buy it all. I exclaimed that I must stop trying more little samples or I would go broke due to buying everything my hungry tummy desired. I’ve realized that I need to stop bragging and get to the point of my tasting experience. On Fridays and Saturdays brisket is offered. Get. The. Brisket. I’ll list everything we sampled and bought to eat, and had not one dern regret about it. *Don’t judge our gluttony! We were excited and are still eating left-overs* We ordered two brisket plates, three hush puppies included with each plate (tasted just like my grandpa’s hush puppies! Mind blow), macaroni pie (which is their code name for a serving of homemade Miss’ssippi macaroni), baked beans, 1/2 pint of their homemade pimento, one pint of their delicious chicken salad and a side of potato salad. There are three bbq sauces offered here. There is the basic red that is very good (not spicy), a red that is more vinegar-based and spicy and there is a mustardy-based sauce. I found my personal favorite: 1 part vinegar mixed with 2 parts red. Yass yass yass. Visit this restaurant and bless your belly with good eats!More

I’m a recent South Carolinian so I guess I’m not an expert in BBQ, but I sure enjoyed what I had at Bubba’s. I was in a new area and had a sudden BBQ craving so hit the GPS. It brought up Bubba’s, and I’m...glad it did. The pork was melt in your mouth tender and had a deep smoky flavor throughout. I got Mac & cheese as a side, and it was delicious also. Bubba’s is not close to where I live, but I know I’ll be back.More

I am from N.C. moved to SC 4 years ago. This was the best find of al my foot explorations. We had there barbecue once and now we go there at least 3 times a month. The service is good but can be slow at...times, but everything is delicious! Green beans Mac and cheese are the bomb! Not even to mention they have the tastiest juiciest barbecue I have ever had in SC. If you like Jim n’ Nicks you will love BubbasMore

From their pulled pork sandwiches to their wings all of our food was delicious. Their mac and cheese was truly homemade and their sweet potato crunch was pleasantly just right in taste.

I visited Bubba’s BBQ & Bash at the Opera, which is about 3 Miles off I-26 exit road 50. If you are not familiar with the area it’s good to use your GPS-Waze. That’s why I’m giving directions to y’all so you can find it...easy. Now I went this past Thursday night and I just decided to have the special which was country fried steak with gravy, macaroni and cheese along with baked beans! Now you talk about good it was delicious! Country fried steak and gravy was out of the world! The macaroni and cheese was almost as good as what my grandma used to make! NO one could ever cook like your grandma but they were close!! Baked beans were delicious. I always drink water, as it’s good for ya plus I just never can justify paying close to $2.00, that’s just an example for a soft drink. I’m sure that their Good old SOUTHERN tea is great as so many were drinking it! You ordered when you come in and pay them also. Give you a number that you place on your table, get your own beverage, then they bring your food out! That takes a little getting used to but it’s very simple as they have plenty of printed out menus you can look over before ordering. All in all great food! You won’t be disappointed!More
