We are locals and rate this as one of our 4 favorite seafood restaurants in this area with all food prepared to order , hot and FRESH . It has the feel of a neighborhood bar and grill from the northeast , fairly small and intimate but with great food . I feel it to be a tad more expensive... More

The reason for the one is there was ZERO parking and no signs to tell if you should park somewhere else. It's actually in a tiny strip mall with an enclosed type parking lot for only the establishments. My husband and I were very much looking forward to a dinner alone and based on ratings here we chose Captain John's.... More

Hi Robin, All the businesses share the parking lot. It sounds as if your arrived when the lot was full. Perhaps you will have an opportunity to dine with us in the future. ~ John More

The only place in the Myrtle Beach area that had fish and clams from up north. The food was very good along with the service. We are transplants from Massachusetts that searched high and low for a New England style place to have seafood and will continue to eat here every week. The only thing I don't understand is why... We have visited Captain John's several times over the past few months as it reminds us of the kind and quality of seafood we had regularly when we lived in New England. When we receive the "Clam Gram" email that fresh whole belly clams are on the menu we go there but the fresh haddock dinner is also excellent and... More

You can not beat Captain John's for fried clam belly and lobster roll. The scallops are delicious also, just dusted not breaded.

We eat at Capt John's 3 to 4 times a month. I hesitate to brag, because this is a local's place and I don't want to many vacationers finding out about it. Just kidding, it is the best for food, service and price in the area

Had the grilled swordfish this past Thursday and as always it was excellent. We have been frequenting Capt. Johns since it was located on the other side of 17 and regardless of whether you try something fried, grilled or balackened it is always fresh and done the right way. They just know how to cook fish and treat customers which... More

Being from New England, we LOVE whole belly fried clams and these folks really know how to cook them! Also, very friendly staff and atmosphere. Have not tried anything else but it all looks good going by. Always eagerly await a "Clam - Gram" that lets us know when they come in and are available. We live locally, so can... More

Have been enjoying meals here for years, and the owners have always maintained a high level of excellence. The seafood is always fresh, and well prepared, whether it's a simple salad with scallops, or one of Capt. John's amazing specials. Comfortable ambiance and very friendly staff. Plenty on the menu for non-fish eaters also (my husband says they have the... More

This is one of my "go to" restaurants in the area. Being a local, you sometimes get tired of the huge restaurants catering to tourists. Captain John's is small and comfortable. The seafood is always fresh. I tend to get the fried haddock dinner because it's so good. Too often with fried seafood, the breading is a hard crust with... More
