Island Bar & Grill is a full-service restaurant and bar that is located in the Village Shops in the heart of Pawleys Island, SC. We are just seconds from the Hammock Shops and have been here since 2007. You’ll feel right at home at IBG Pawleys, with our friendly staff and outstanding food! Come enjoy our outdoor patio where we host live music throughout the year and most major sports packages shown on the outdoor TV’s. Good Find

We took a mid week drive to Pawleys for some business and found ourselves at the Island Bar. We were able to get a small table outside and had a nicely prepared blackened Grouper Sandwich and a Grilled Chicken Sandwich. Nice menu, great atmosphere and promptly served. I am sure in season this place is packed because they offer entertainment as well.

Success under pressure!

We came here today to have lunch and watch a March Madness game at the bar. Unfortunately the poor barkeep, Jennifer, was working all alone and running frantically to try to keep customers content. My wife and I were very impressed by her ability to ‘keep it together’ and not totally lose her ‘stuff’; she was also worried about the waitress who hadn’t shown up for work. She apologized to everyone who came into the place and most sat outside... The chef also kept his cool and turned out order after order and Jennifer delivered each order like she was a contestant on Survivor! We ended up having a great lunch and I complimented the Chef on the excellent po-boy oysters he prepared to perfection! We gave Jennifer a generous tip for her ‘courage under fire’! We will come back!

Good food, fair service

Our group of 4 had good meals here. The fried grouper sandwich, shrimp po boy and salad with grilled grouper were all very tasty. Unfortunately, service was slow because there were only 2 waitresses who were also having to seat guests and bartend. They were as efficient as they could possibly be but needed help. A few guests left after waiting too long to be seated.

Cats all over the place

Went there for what we were told, the best wings in town. Well I guess we hit it at a bad time. Ordered beers, 10 mins later placed order for pretzels and two dozen wings. While waiting outside we saw about 4 cats under tables. We have a cat so it wasnt that bad, but then the cats jumped up on the tables of people who just left, and started eating the leftovers. Now that ain't cool, and I think is probably against health codes. Nobody who work there seem t care. Well after that about 15 mins.waiter came out and said they were out of pretzels. Ok well just have wings, 10 mins later he came out and said they were bbn out of wings. But they had boneless wings, they aren't wings if they dont havethe bone wth. Paid for our beers then went to visits next store and enjoyed a great meal. Will never return to this place and cant recommend anyone does either. Terrible service

Awful takeout, awful attitude

Ordered three ahi tuna nachos and a bang bang shrimp to go. Person on the phone said it would be ready in ten to fifteen minutes. When I arrived in ten minutes, there were only two tables outside with diners, and I was then told their orders would have precedence over mine. Forty minutes later, my food was bagged, including a styrofoam container that had been sitting there since my arrival. I was informed that was my shrimp. I indicated I didn’t want shrimp that was sitting out that long, only to be told there was nothing they could do and I should reheat it. Got home and opened everything up. Not surprisingly, the shrimp were cold and tough. The nachos were all deconstructed, with random chips scattered in the container, only one out of three had seaweed salad, and there was no siracha garnish. Worst of all, the tuna was limp and gray. In other words, the entire dinner was inedible. My guess is the tuna had been frozen and that’s why it took so long for it to be prepared. I called back, asked to speak to the manager, was told no one in a supervisory position was there, and the most they would do is refund me for the shrimp. I would have thought that during the Covid forced limitation, they would have cared more, not less, about their food and service. Be forewarned if you call for takeout.

Shining Star of Pawleys Island continues to shine bright despite recent industry challenges

In spite of staff shortages impacted by all restaurants, we were enthusiastically greeted by staff who were eager to please and very accommodating. The cook, Dwayne, continues to consistently serve some of the finest quality, creative seafood dishes. Dwayne is a rockstar, cooking your meal to perfection. Although the wing special may have been discontinued, the wing size continues to be awesome and as crispy as ever. Prices have not risen, despite an industry shortage. Remember to practice patience when dining out. The staff here are committed to ensuring you get the Island Bar and Grill experience you know and love. That may mean a brief wait to get a table, especially in bad weather, or if it’s busy (even on a Monday night). It’s well worth it! General manager shares the ahi tuna nachos can’t be beat and we don’t disagree. It’s been a family favorite for years. See y’all soon.

We are in love with this spot ! We were very pleased with Covid-19 precautions. Outdoor seating is delightful and we can't wait to see the huge fire pit blazing. We were all thrilled with our meals, Chef was very willing to grill oysters rather than fryng. The new manager is exceptional, very personable and welcoming !

Fun atmosphere; enjoy the cats

We had burgers and a fish n chips plate. One burger was over cooked (wanted medium); fries were a bit different. The soft homemade fried chips were tasty. The prices are reasonable. $9 for a basic burger and then $.50 per topping Tap beer is $5 for a tall glass. Matt was a great server. Lots of cats roaming the outdoor patio. Fun. We are cat people.

Don't miss out on this amazing spot!

We went there for lunch and it completely rocked my world! Very reasonably priced, outstanding food, and a great atmosphere! Appetizers we had the fried pickles and mushrooms--loved the sauces that came with both. Then at our table we had the blackened grouper sandwich, fried grouper sandwich, shrimp po-boy, & a chicken quesadilla all served with the homemade fries. The grouper was phenomenal! Why did I only give 4 stars? Our server never smiled and was not conversational; she did her job well, but I like server to be at least cordial. Everything else was the bomb! Definitely recommend!

Fun little Bar and grill with super great food!

I have been coming to Pawleys since 1989 and have never ventured here!! Today it was calling my name. Me, my son and my four legged daughter decided to give it a go! We ordered the fried grouper fingers, fried calamari, fried mushrooms and artichoke and spinach dip! All were very very good! The sauces you can tell were freshly prepared! The Horseradish sauce and remoulade was out of this world! This place is fun. I’m sure with the live music it could get really packed. AND out drinks were super good and super cheap I’m talking 4 and 5 dollars! Those are 1980’s prices! We will be back!

Slow service, poor quality

Slow service, poor quality food. Meal was delivered one meal at a time. Last meal arrived about 45 minutes after the first. Spinach dip tasted old and all food lacked salt. Don’t go.

Poor service

My group of 6 attempted to be seated tonight. The first waitress said it would be a 30 minute wait, which I said was fine. An older waitress came over and said she wouldn't have anything for us, inside or outside, at any time tonight. It was still a few hours before closing. She was extremely rude. A young man explained there was only 1 cook working and 3 waiters, but there was no reason for her to be rude. We went to Dead Dog instead and received excellent service.

Good Place for Casual Outdoor Dining

This was our second visit to island Bar & Grill. Both times we’ve had excellent experiences. The food was delicious, the deck was comfortable and well spaced, the staff wore masks, and the draft beer was nice and cold. We went for lunch yesterday after getting in town. It was a relaxing way to start our vacation.

Service that made our meal!

I was skeptical when we arrived at this spot. It seemed like a local watering hole but I was not sure about how a family meal was going to go. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was good, everything seemed fresh and made to order. The best part was the service. My son has some sensory issues, which makes him extremely picky. Meals out can be anxiety inducing for the whole family. The bartender/server was so kind and patient with my son. She commiserated with him about being picky and ended up offering him a little bit of everything for his meal, since they were out of Mac and cheese. In other situations this could have completely thrown off our entire experience, but her service allowed us all to have an excellent night out.

Wife and I ate dinner here last night, I had the oyster po boy and she had the grouper tacos, both were stuffed with seafood and fresh veggies, very delicious. Beer was cold atmosphere was welcoming. Well worth the price!!!
