We were visiting Orangeburg for just the day and asked some locals where to eat. This was the only place they would recommend and it did not disappoint. Food is excellent and service was just as good. Looking for a place to eat in Orangeburg, this is it.

Traveling with my husband and we were lucky to come upon the Chestnut Grill. I had an excellent lunch of grilled scallops and a sauteed crabcake with potato salad and fresh fruit with a dip. EVERYTHING was wonderful. And the price was about $13. They also serve croissants with honey drizzled on them. The restaurant is decorated nicely and the... More

First off their hours listed on TA are wrong. I told our waitress and she said she'd inform the manager. Outside looks low budget. Inside was nicer than expected. Not-so-awesome blossom was good. Ceasar salad has way too much dressing. We never got our honey glazed Cresent rolls, so we don't know what they taste like. I ordered chestnut sampler.... More

This is definitely the place the locals go for a nice sit down lunch. Service is so good that it's possible to get in and out quickly if you're traveling. I had the Hot Pastrami Special w a side salad. Both were good. Wife had the fried flounder. Fresh fish fried crisp. Delicious. Son had the clam chowder, salad and... More

The staff was very rude both times we visited. The first time, we ordered steaks that ended up being cooked completely different than what we'd asked for. The server argued and the manager was even worse.

Really good margaritas started the meal. We ordered the filet with baked potato and salad. The salad was crisp and cold. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and just delicious. Baked potato was also better than most. The service was great, who could ask for more. Oh, the price....on par with a good meal. Go out of your way to... More

I really enjoyed this place. From the server to the food. For appetizers, we had the buffalo and dry wings. The dinners we had were: Fried oysters with fried okra and fruit. The sauce they have for the fruit is SO good. Fried shrimp with potato salad and fruit. Chicken fingers and fries and a well done rib eye with... More

The restaurant is an older one in the city and was really in need of a "freshening", well they did not disappoint. New floors, walls, pictures, mirrors, even the restrooms were redone. The ceiling was always "in need of repair in spots" and it is completely new. Wow! When you enter you feel like you are entering a familiar place... More

Was in Orangeburg on business and my coworkers recommended this restaurant. I had the steak kebabs and fried okra. The food was excellent and the service was great. I will eat here again when I return.

On one of our regular trips down I 26 and stopped in Orangeburg, SC for lunch. Tired of the typical chains so went searching for a local place. Found Chestnut Grill on US 21. Outstanding fried oysters. Who knew? My Ruben was very good. Could have a bit more meat but very tasty. Our server, Sandra, was great. Wonderful staff... More
