Well, we used to love Greg Norman’s and it used to be the highlight of our week. It’s funny how one bad meal can ruin your opinion for life. I am shocked to write this, but I have had better steak at a Ponderosa circa...1987 than I did this past week at this formerly phenomenal establishment. Hungry from a hard day of shopping and beach going, three out of five of our party ordered the 14 oz ribeye, rather than the usual 6 oz filet mignon in an effort to get, well, more meat. Instead, all 3 of us had a thin, overcooked slab of mostly fat with a side of maybe 3 oz of meat, and that is being generous. I did not cause a scene by complaining, but most of my steak was inedible fat. When the waiter returned, and he was a less than desirable server, to be frank, he did not ask how our meals were, but I made it a point to tell him that I was unhappy with my cut. He kindly apologized and I informed him that he was not at fault, but that I just felt I should let him know it was not the cut or quality I had come to rely upon at Greg Norman’s. He offered me a free dessert, which I politely declined, although I appreciated the gesture. He did state that he would inform the kitchen, which is what I hoped would happen, so that no one else would be so greatly disappointed. In retrospect, I probably should have asked for a manager or sent it back to the kitchen once I tasted the first morsel of meat, but I didn’t want to complain, nor to upset anyone else’s dinner (plus I fear sending food back and the repercussions which might ensue). For $150 for 3 steaks, with zero sides included, it was a huge waste of money. We took my daughter’s steak home - she barely touched it - and wound up just tossing it. My husband ate his, begrudgingly, but that’s not saying much, as he was quite hungry. Our other two family members had salmon and lobster ravioli respectively, with no complaints. I think we just had a bad bunch of ribeyes, but, ugh, to pay $380+ for a meal that was so disappointing is just enough to discourage me from ever going back.More
