We ate at Johnny D's and I found the food and service to be very good. They told us that the Red Velvet Waffles won an award I decided that if I went back, I would try them. Service was prompt and you could tell...the people enjoyed working there with the staff. We decided about a week later to try the other location when we happened to be driving around there. The second location appears to be a re-purposed Pizza Hut. We were seated fairly close to where we entered. However, the place is pretty bare bones and nothing absorbs the sound. Consequently people laughing at a table on far side of restaurant sounded as though they were right next to us. I did as planned. Ordered the Red Velvet Waffle. It said it had cinnamon butter and drizzled glaze, No cinnamon and did have butter. Did not have much drizzle. It was very soft and you tell it was fresh made. That said, I wouldn't order it again. Not sure what made it so unique. Nothing really wrong with food. Good. Fine,More

This was a fabulous place. Everything was homemade. They had biscuits almost as good as my Grandmother made. I had the Crab and Shrimp Omelet and it was so delicious! I sure wish I lived close by, I'd have breakfast there everyday!

This was our first breakfast during our visit to North Myrtle. It was pretty quiet in the restaurant. Our server was very attentive and pleasant. The food was really good. We each had skillets and both were cooked perfectly. We ordered the red velvet waffle...based on the reviews from others. Just a warning. It is more like cake than a waffle. So if you love red velvet cake, you will love this waffle. We are more ‘crispy’ waffle people. In the end, it was a pretty pricey breakfast so keep that in mind when you order. Definitely worth visiting at least once.More

Johnny Ds opened in Surfside two weeks ago. We saw it on Carolina am and decided to go for breakfast. The food was OK, not much. But the problem was this: The OJ was $3.82 for a glass Cranberry juice $3.12 a glass. Total was...$36.40 for breakfast. I gave more than recommended $5.67, gave $6.00. When I got in the car I noticed it said Service charge $5.10 which was the 18% tip recommended on check. They already put it on there & didn't tell us. WE WERE RIPPED OFF !!! NEVER AGAIN. BTW, They do not answer the phone !More

My wife, teen son, and I had waffles here today. For $50, we had three waffles, a side of sausage patties, 2 sweet teas and an orange juice. Wait staff were wearing masks, but those in the kitchen were not. We were seated at adjacent...booths to other customers and I am surprised that my wife didn't have us leave at that. Even Waffle House had us separated from other customers better. We had chicken and waffles, twisted chicken and waffles, and a cinnaroll waffle. The twisted waffle had bacon in it. Everyone enjoyed the taste of the food, but we were disappointed with the proximity of the other customers.More

We love to end our vacation with a great meal and Johnny D's was just the ticket. After reading glowing reviews on Trip Advisor, we stopped by on our way out of town. We were seated immediately and observed that all staff were wearing masks...and tables were socially distanced. The menu is quite extensive and has something for everyone. My husband and I asked Megan, our waitress, for her recommendations and she recommended the Red Velvet Waffle and the Pork Belly Benedict. We took her recommendations with the idea of sharing the two so we could try them both. My sister ordered a burger and my kids ordered chicken tenders and the kids breakfast plate. Everything came out fresh and hot and was delicious. The pork belly benedict was great and it's easy to see why their red velvet waffle is award-winning. I tasted my daughter's grits and they were some of the best we had our whole trip. Everything was well seasoned and delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. This was an excellent breakfast. I had the brisket skillet and my wife had a blueberry waffle with one egg. My skillet was far and away the best I have ever had. Lots of brisket, home fries, jalapeno peppers, smoked gouda cheese with a wonderful...spice mixture. Strongly suggest you try this if you like spicy. My wife's waffle had lots of blueberries and was light and airy as she likes them. Our server, Bianca, was very attentive and checked in with us often.More

Depends what day & what time of year. There are 2 restaurants now...one in Myrtle Beach & one in North Myrtle Beach. We’ve never had a wait at North Myrtle but we go in Oct-May.
