Another NY Pizza Kitchen, we decided to take a look at the menu to determine if it would be a good fit for a quick lunch.
After looking through the menu on the front window, we decided to give the restaurant a try. We walked...in and were told to go ahead and sit where ever we wanted so we chose a booth along the back wall, at this point we had ample time to check the menu while they determined who would wait on us.
They provided us with a server quickly enough, we ordered the grilled chicken sub with French fries and BBQ sauce on the side, along with a Caesar salad. For drinks we just ordered water, at which time we were posed with the question of bottled water vs. tap water with ice and being as thirsty as we were we just wanted water, so we chose tap water with ice.
Our server brought out my French fries first, she also asked me if I wanted ketchup, of course I said yes. I was provided a pile of ketchup packets, she then asked if I wanted additional ketchup for the overflowing basket of fries, of course I said yes once again. The Caesar salad was then brought out, served in a tinfoil bowl with a small cup of dressing on the side, our server then asked if additional dressing was needed, based on the initial salad to dressing ratio it was definitely going to be needed. My chicken sub was apparently still being prepared, so I just ate my French fries and waited. After I finished a good portion of the fries, my chicken sub was brought out with a side of bbq sauce. The sandwich was served on a paper plate and appeared to be a very basic sandwich, even more basic than a subway sandwich. The chicken was sliced and sparse as was the cheese. It was a very disappointing sub sandwich.
I had initially checked into the establishment on Yelp, at which time I was offered a 10 percent off coupon. I presented the coupon to the server, she apparently didn't even know what yelp was and decided to ask for help, yet no one working in the restaurant knew of yelp or how to discount a coupon so decided the offer was no longer valid and presented me with the bill. After looking over the bill I discovered this was apparently an a la carte establishment.
They charged for literally everything they brought. They even charged for the tap water! They charged additionally for ketchup, dressing, bbq sauce and since they offered nothing other than paper plates, plastic cups and tinfoil bowls, there profit margin is off the hook.
The price point for this establishment is to high, yet the quality and transparency is to low. If your going to provide this level of quality in your product and add extensive additional charges along the way without any forewarning to the customer, you should at least provide the customer with real dishes and glasses. We will not return to this restaurant!
