This used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant. Food and service are great, but I am tired of being nickle-dimed. My fajitas came with about a teaspoon of sour cream. I asked for more and they charged me for it. Then the meal comes with...three tortillas, and I needed one more. I would have had to buy 3! So I declined. This seems to be the policy lately. So that is why I gave them three stars. Otherwise it would have been 5. I won’t be back.More
La Nortena is top notch and original. It's not like most of the other cookie cutter tex mex restaurants that are everywhere.
Got takeout, half of the meal was missing. Burrito and 2 tacos, but no burrito. It was May 5th, so they were very busy. But that didn't help my hunger when I got home.
Update: *From five stars to four due to pricing. The prices have jumped from around $14.00 to $19.00 for most items during dinner. Personally, I think the prices are way overboard. I am not sure about the lunch pricing but most dinner menu items went...up around $5 per item. I can't justify paying $20+ per person.* However, the best Mexican food I have eaten in South Carolina was here. The food is always hot and fresh. It seems to be cooked to perfection. The staff (most of the staff) is very friendly. The atmosphere is very nice. There are TV's located at the bar. Definitely try here if you want some great Mexican cuisine and don't mind spending over $20 for a plate.More
What a fabulous spot. I always look for an authentic Mexican restaurant on a trip to the south. La Nortena does an excellent job. Had the rib eye fajitas and house margarita. Reasonably price as well. Would definitely go back.
This place rocked it from beginning to end. Right from the great salsa and fresh chips, to a replacement for the special drink of the day as they were out to delicious food and plenty of it. Service was superb. May eat here again on...this short vacation. An anomaly for sure.More
Unexpected superb quality and outstanding service. I stopped in for a solo lunch, just expecting some ho-hum high speed Mexican food. However I was very pleasantly surprised with outstanding quality a modest but pleasant interior decor, and really exceptional service. They are fully staffed and...ready for a high-volume lunch crowd and they executed perfectly with outstanding food! I was thrilled to find Al Pastor meat available as one of the choices. Stopped here on our way out of Charleston and didn't want to deal with any more crowds. This was a great stop. Super friendly quick service. Great food, we cleared our plates. Salsa was delicious, recommend the Nortena nachos and Xangos
Ordered burrito which was supposed to be steak with lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream. Came with hamburger meat, no lettuce, tomatoes or sour cream that I could see or taste. I questioned staff and they were adamant my order was correct. And everything was overpriced....Will not visit again.More
The best Mexican food ever!! My husband and I always find a Mexican restaurant ever trip we go on. This place by far is better than any Mexican place we’ve ever been too. True authentic!! Amazing!!
Under the circumstances of the science fiction movie we're all currently starring in, any restaurant that rises to the challenge and provides excellent food and service must get a 5-star rating. Our food and service was terrific under normal circumstances, but the ease in which...we watched the "extra effort" unfold before us made this an extraordinary experience and I highly recommend a visit.More
The food was decent and quite expensive for the portions. The server only talked to my wife because she was Hispanic also. The sever did not give us straws until the food came out. At the final bill, the server handed my wife the bill...instead of me and continued to only chat with her. I would not go back.More
Their fajitas are simply awesome. I am not much of a fajitas person to be honest, but I took a chance and tried something different. I now have a new favorite dish at my new favorite restaurant. I also like that they give you several...different salsas to try with your chips. And the dishes have flavor with seasonings, not just a dish of salt as is common with so many restaurants. The only reason they are not busting at the seams with business is that their restaurant faces sideways in the strip mall and it is easy to overlook. If their restaurant faces forward toward the street, they would be much busier. The food is great! Hands down, my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area!More

This mexican restaurant has a unique menu as well as unique salsas to try in addition to the regular. The 4 that come as samples are delicious and quite hot! I had garlic shrimp that was simply amazing!
