If you want quantity vs quality then feel free to wait an hour or more to be seated. Food was not worth it and cook wasn’t even entertaining. My kids are used to fun interactive tricks. We thought it must be good because it’s so...busy and reviews are good but now we’re guessing these must be paid reviews unless people are just ok with the large portions and willing to pay a good chunk.More

I went with my family to Miyabi this week. After 20 + years of visiting Myrtle Beach and frequenting Yamato, we decided to try something different. Yamato service, quality and value has declined in recent years. We weren’t sure about Miyabi because of some reviews...being negative. Some of those negative reviews were recent as well. However, we decided to take a chance anyway. We are not sushi eaters, but there was a sign on the door that said they weren’t currently offering sushi. When we were seated, I asked the server why not, and he said that on very short notice they lost their sushi chef. They are currently searching for another one, but have not had any success. We were greeted promptly upon arrival, they do not take reservations or do call ahead seating. It was a Tuesday evening when we went so we did not have to wait at all to be seated. We arrived about 5:30 p.m. The restaurant was clean, and actually most of the hibachi tables were occupied, so they were pretty busy. The server almost immediately came over and took our drink order and provided us menus. The pricing was slightly higher than we are used to, we realized afterwards that the portions, particularly the rice, is a very good amount for the price charged. We usually order the chicken hibachi and we expect to pay around $20-$21. I believe the cost at Miyabi was $26. The chef was very friendly, he greeted everyone, and was very entertaining. There were some children seated at our table, and he engaged well with them and made a great presentation. We usually order extra rice because we like leftovers. That was a bit of a mistake, because we ended up with a ton of rice or take home!. None of us could finish our food and will have at least another meal for leftover. Two other things I’d like to point out. The soup was very flavorful, and larger the normal serving. The salad larger than expected as well and the ginger dressing was mixed well throughout the salad. The chef provided us additional Yum Yum sauce when we asked. Additionally, the server brought us several sealed containers of Yum sauce to go with our leftover. They might have had other sauces available, as hibachi restaurants usually do, but they did not offer, and we do not usually use the other sauces, so we do not ask. Our expectations were questionable, however the service was very good, and the food was very good as well. I can say that our expectations were exceeded. We will definitely go back again.More

We had high hopes for this place after seeing the reviews. My 4 year old is obsessed with hibachi. He likes to pretend and act as if he's doing it for us at home. So it was a special treat for our family of 4...to go to one that was highly rated. The location and building are fine, nicely decorated lobby. But our first hint that something was off was that the sushi bar was marked as closed. Looking at the menu, it was on a cheap, poorly laminated sheet, with 2 sushi selections. A "beginner" combo and another combo. No way to order just one or two, or mix and match. looking further on the menu, everything seemed to to be nickel and dimed. In fact, even if you want the waiter or someone to take a photo, they'll charge you. (never seen that before). My wife and I ordered the Shrimp and Hibachi Chicken, my kids just the chicken, and we ordered a side of noodles. We asked if fried rice was included and were told it was. The chef came out, which we were excited because the one at the other table seemed to be lively and fun. Lots of noise, lots of fire, lots of showmanship at the other table. Perhaps it was an off night for our guy though which we can understand. Not everyone is going to have a superstar day and maybe he just wanted to get through making the food. But it was a bit disappointing as our son just adores that stuff. No tricks, no jokes, no excitement, no nothing. OK, that's what it is. Food was mediocre. The "Fried" rice had no egg, and ended up dry. The veggies were just zucchini and onion, nothing else. Chicken was dry, shrimp didn't have much flavor. Food was just kind of bland. In the end it was a good amount of food, but it cost over $100 for 2 meals, 2 beers, a cocktail, and a kids meal that was shared. We have been to a lot of hibachis, and its tough to find a good combination of showmanship/entertainment and also good food. This time, we didn't have either.More

Usually come here every year as part of our annual golf trip. Would not seat our party until all members were present, so we ended up spending a bit more time at the bar waiting for stragglers. A nice selection of flavorful drinks. So we...were primed by the time the stragglers showed up. The chef did not disappoint. He was very entertaining and funny, as sometimes they can make or break the experience. Food was great and well prepared.More

This was by far the very best Japanese food experience we have ever had. Great portions cooked to perfection while also entertaining. Morty, Allison, and manager Rose have been exceptional. The food had more flavor than anything we could compare it to. My tea glass...never made it below half full. The entire restaurant had a better ambiance than any other similar establishment we have visited. This meal will feed both of us three times. By far the best experience of our entire trip.More

This place sucks, I found hair in my food and when I went to tell the manager (Bobby), he said that he would get the mistake fixed and re-make the food, but never did. Not to mention everyone there was giving me weird looks as...I complained about the hair, also one of the hosts (had glasses on and seemed a little chubby) didn’t get her name, was rude as she seated the table and gave everyone at my table an attitude. I would not recommend going here under any cirumstances, this whole place is run by careless and unfriendly workers that have no brains, and no sense of care at all. I will be notifying other friends and associates about this place.More

So disappointed. Paid $60 for a meal that had old sick looking lobster, old shrimp and fair filet. Always took home enough for another meal. Not today. Cook acted as if he didn’t want to be there. Was wearing a mask so not sure if...he was sick or was afraid of catching something. Will not return. Server was very attentive.More

Too much rice, the veggies are terrible; stick to just zucchini and onions! Our chef did not have the skills for the entertaining aspect of this job. We had to watch the chef at the next table. Would not recommmend!

We went to Miyak Japanese Steak House 2547 Richmond Rd Lexington KY for our grandson's 10th birthday. We were traveling and our grandson said Hibachi would be a good choice. We searched and found Miyak Japanese Steak House. What a great idea. My husband and...I had never had Hibachi entrees before so this was a good experience for us. We made reservations for 7:30 pm and were seated right away. Because we were unfamiliar to how to order our wait staff walked us through. From beginning to end everything was wonderful. Great flavor and we thought a good value. Everything was fresh tasting - the salad had a good dressing on it and was so flavorful. Next the appetizers. We had California Roll and Spring Rolls. So good.....Next was our entrees: We choose the Dinner for two - it was more than 3 of us could eat and included: 5 oz Filet Mignon, 12 large shrimp, 8 oz chicken, lobster tail and rice all prepared in front of us. Our chef was fun and made it interesting and fun for our grandson. It was a very good experience. Red Bean ice Cream for dessert. To make it even more special the wait staff came out with a drum and sang happy birthday and had a Chinese candle that when opened played happy birthday. It was such a special time there. We are recommending this restaurant to everyone. The food was so tender and delicious.More

As always, Miyabi's is great. We got lucky and got seated right away b/c they needed 3 more at a table. Everything was great as it always is here. Soup, salad, more food than you could ever eat! No one could leave here hungry...ever. All...the food was fabulous and the cook put on a good show. When I was finished with all I wanted, I still had a plate full of food. It's pricy but you get your money's worth. We will definitely be back. The only thing disappointing is they don't do the early bird special anymore and they don't accept gift cards. I didn't have a gift card, but I could see where this might present a problem for someone.More

I get inflation, but probably last family trip. We’ve been eating there for over 20 years, but with the loss of the early bird special, no sharing of food for kids, it’s just too expensive. My wife and I got the cheapest meals, water, and...it was 70 bucks. The dinner felt rushed. Will probably look for a new Japanese restaurant for next year. It’s a shameMore

10 of us went out for supper. Our waiter Kenny was friendly and on the ball. From the chef, the steak, lobster, scallops were cooked very good. The quantity of rice was enough to feed an elephant. Our chef was entertaining, but not as much...as some other hibachi's I've been too (no saki saki) I find it always hit or miss depending on the restaurant and chef.More

We are locals and have been going to Miyabis for many, many years. Once we arrived this evening I was told the wait was 30 minutes . That was completely fine with us as would it have been if we were told 45 minutes or...an hour. But as we waited we saw families and parties coming in and be seated before us. I went to the host desk and questioned it. She made me feel like I was lying and wrong and told me we had 3 tables still ahead of use after wait 35 minutes. As much as I didn’t like that answer I was still okay with this, we waited. Then another family in my party wanted to ask the hostesses. As they asked approached one particular lady at the hostess desk (I am told is with the management/owner, which is even more disheartened) was rude and also said again for the second time we were wrong, she said they sat everyone as they come in, no reservations, no special placement. We were there long enough we saw people/families/groups come in after us and be seated, maybe they had a friend that works there, and snuck them in to be seated and that’s okay but as a hostess you still don’t lie to your customers. Myself and the other family member that was with me both own our own business. We know how damaging the wrong words can be to a local business but I will say I have never been so upset, discouraged and down right mad with a business (let alone a local one) as I was tonight. My family will not ever be visiting this miyabis ever again. And they will hear from us again. (As I told them this when we left tonight). The behavior they exhibited tonight as a business was unacceptable. I would have been fine waiting an hour if need be but the manner in which we were treated as we questioned others being seated before us was completely and utterly just wrong. We left without being seated, immediately drove to Odori’s in north Myrtle beach and had a wonderful dinner considering.More
