We went to Salty Dog after every tennis session in Sea Pines. One evening they had a "low country boil" which was outstanding and well attended. Beer was cold and shrimp was hot; and it was free! Not the beer, just the food. They said they do it the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Perfect end to a perfect day!

Plan and simple, the have a tremendous brand (marketing campaign) which makes national chains jealous but there food is lousy. Nothing like having to wait 45 minutes to an hour with tourists (including me) everywhere only to eat food that Long John Silver's wouldn't serve, much less for the price. Stay away unless you just have the urge to say... More

The service was great and when we ordered the crab dip and asked for fresh fried chips we received them with no problem. Beer selection was great and cold. We split the shrimp and crab rolls. Very fresh. Restaurant was well staffed and clean.

We had a terrific lunch sitting out on the dock area. Party of 3, shrimp salad, gumbo, she crab soup and sandwiches. Friendly very good service and no rush, no problems and a nice time. A great afternoon at the Salty Dog in south beach.

What a generally terrible experience. 1.5 hour wait to be seated. Fine, that's understandable. Holiday weekend and all. Except the dining room was extremely hot, the service was extremely slow, the hostesses were laughing about telling customers super long wait times so they would leave, and the soap was broken in the men's rooms. Oh and the hostess got snarky... More

This was our third visit to The Salty Dog at South Beach over several years. As in the first two visits, service was very good and the food was good. The mud smell was a little much but that's what you get outside at times. I withheld one star because of the fee to get into Sea Pines. ($6).
