Good food, large portions, big menu

We’ve been ordering here a couple times a month for several months now. The food is consistently good and fresh. Very large portion sizes. We’ve tried several different things on their very large menu (haven’t tried the sushi yet because everything else is so good). I love that you can online order. But they definitely take the full 25 mins if not longer for pickup, so be aware of that. We will keep coming back again and again!

A LOT of food.

Joined a friend here for dinner one night and sent her home with tons of leftovers. I got a bento box, which had tempura, California roll, shumai, katsu and rice. Served with miso and salad. I expect to get a little of everything in a bento, so that sounded good. I really love tempura though, so ordered an appetizer. Friend got a few rolls. When the barge pulled up to the table with our order, I was slightly overwhelmed. The appetizer had 4 prawns and all sorts of veggies. The batter was slightly thicker than I'm used to, but I ate my share. Soup and salad were tasty as expected. The Bento was HUGE! About 7 pieces of tempura, an entire California roll, two dumplings, a katsu chicken breast and a cup of brown rice (obviously reheated and not too great). I was only able to eat the California Roll, and sent the rest home with my friend. Her three rolls came out on a huge plate and she too had to take home most of her dinner. Very good value, decent food and friendly service.

Not sure what happened, but this place is just not as good

I ordered some food for takeout the other night, and they told me it would be ready in 15 minutes. I honestly arrived 15 minutes after I ordered the food, to the minute, and I had to sit and wait another 15 minutes for the food to be ready. The food itself is just ok. The wonton soup in my opinion was disappointing, and the sesame chicken/lo mein, was only just ok. Not sure if I'll be back.

Wanted to Love This Place, But They are Too Inconsistent

My entire family of 5 loves sushi and we live 5 minutes from Hanako, so we so very much wanted Hanako to be our go-to restaurant in terms of convenience and value. Due to their proximity we have eaten or ordered from here many times, and keep giving them second chances in the hope that they will improve. Their pricing has always been great. But the big problem is that they are extremely hit or miss in terms of what you're going to get. It's a very inconsistent experience. Sometimes they are great. Other times they are well below average, not in terms of quality, but in terms of portion sizes and menu item availability. Too frequently, the cuts of fish on nigiri and sashimi are very small compared to what you would normally expect at a sushi restaurant. On one occasion I ordered a party platter of nigiri (over $100 of sushi), and the size of the nigiri, including rice, was literally, no exaggeration, half the length of a normal piece of nigiri. They were tiny! I felt completely cheated. Other times the nigiri slices are very thin. Yet I keep going back to them occasionally hoping for better, and today I was disappointed yet again. I was looking to place a take out order, went online to place the order in advance, and I see that they have no salmon nigiri or sashimi available. Seriously!? What kind of sushi restaurant doesn't have salmon? So disappointing, and I am so frustrated with this restaurant. Due to their location, I want to love it and order from them all the time, but they can't seem to get their act together.

Enjoy the food and the people

My husband and I love sushi. This is a great little place in Indian Land. The service can't be beat. The people are so friendly. We love the Love Boat! Our daughter is a vegetarian and gluten free so this works well when we eat together. They have several options that meet her dietary restrictions.

Hibachi did not come with carrots and brown rice was very sticky and the steak was a little tough but they were quick on delivery and food was hot! I'm willing to try again with a different dish!

3 Strikes and You are Out!!

We live very close by. Can't count how many times we have eaten here over the years. The last 2 times we went in there the food was not good. Our food was cold, the orders were incorrect and the charged us an extra 50 cents for multiple items. We don't mind the extra charges if we get what we asked for. Brought many issues to the manager, she didn't seem to care. We went back a few months later, and had another bad experience. We were done. Today we needed food delivered, we came back for third try. Worse then ever!! Hibachi shrimp was like mush. The lettuce in my salad was about a month old!! So much more, but , you can get the point by now. We gave it three tries and we are done.

Mediocre Sushi

I brought my kids here who love sushi wanting to try a new local place. Food (3/5) - Nothing special. Sushi was okay but the quality of fish below places like Mr. Tokyo in Pineville. Best thing we had was the Vietnamese Rice Noodle bowl with beef. Service (2/5) - Amateurish. One of the ladies barely could communicate. Atmosphere (3/5) - Comfortable but bare bones.

A pleasant experience

This restaurant has a nice atmosphere, great service, and we were pleased with our meals. My husband had shrimp with garlic sauce--the shrimp were huge and the meal was excellent. I had chicken with mixed vegetables. It was a little too salty for my taste, but the chicken was tasty and tender. The portions were large; we could have split one meal. We shared a California roll for an appetizer, and it was fine, as was the spring roll and brown rice which came with our meal. We will definitely return.

Decently priced, good Asian food

We ordered some takeout, out of sheer convenience and proximity to our house. They offer Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese and Thai food. We ordered hibachi chicken, and sesame chicken. Both were good, and for the price I wouldn't complain. It's not a bad option for takeout, mainly because it's much more affordable than other comparable Asian restaurants in the area.

Wednesday night (half off all rolls!)

Sat at the Sushi bar and were informed that all rolls were half price, score! We tried spicy tuna, spider, spicy yellow tail. Probably had like 6 rolls total. We had a cold Sapporo and a glass of wine. Wine had maybe turned a bit and the owner came over and replaced my wife's wine at no charge. All around great experience and could not beat the price.

Sushi in a real pinch

Nothing terribly special about the sushi. May have hit it on an off night, but on entering we were the only party to be seated. The selection was respectable, the service was attentive, considering we were their only table. The sushi was rather blasé. They did have tobiko with wasabi, which was good, but the remaining rolls were basic and nondescript. I would give it another chance if in the area.

My family has dined at this restaurant and ordered takeout since they opened around 4-5 years ago. It is a gem of a restaurant and very affordable. They have a sushi chef and it beats the red bowl style sushi hands down. Have recommended to lots of friends and they have all been back after first visit. Highly recommend.

Good Sushi

Place has great food. It does seem to be a bit too quiet at times... I feel like i have to whisper in order to not be rude. Maybe cause its small but food is great.
