My favorite thing to eat at this place is the shrimp po’boy. It has large shrimp, homemade tartar sauce and the bread is great. I also ordered the fried green beans, and I am never disappointed. Great place to meet friends and family!

My wife and i have been to the Local Dish four times for dinner over the past two months always sitting at the bar. Every meal left us feeling we were glad we visited and looking forward to the next time. John is great as...is his staff. The food is consistently excellent. We have had three soups- all obviously homemade and delicious, the pork chop twice- cooked and seasoned perfectly and one of the best, the seafood pasta-again fresh, delicious and ample. We have also had sandwiches and salads as well as their donut bread pudding. Meal prices are more than reasonable as are the wine and cocktails. Our new go to spot for excellent quality and tasting food, pleasant atmosphere, and friendly staff.More
What a disappointment. This is a long review but I hope management reads it and adjusts bi rarely write bad reviews. I’ve had lunch here a few times time and it was fine. But we just had dinner here and it was not a good...experience. We called on the way since it’s Sat night and we the website suggested call ahead for seating. I was told it was walk in only. We did walk in and get a table right away. We placed drink orders and an app. Once app was entered we waiting for some to take our food order. App was brought I asked to order. Waitress said she would be bad finally took our order when she cleared app plates. They weren’t busy. Not even gave full. We ordered and waited after more than 30 minutes our girl came back and asked if we ordered and what we ordered. She obviously never placed it. Then she brought water and we waited another 20. I asked about the food and receive a lame scallops take longer answer. 10 minutes later we received food which at best was fair but no apology for waiting 50 minutes. A manager/ owner came over and asked if our meal was ok when we explained we got a sorry. That’s it. We were polite but wanted him to know it was a bad experience. But he offered nothing to make amends we prompted received the complete bill again not even I’m sorry for the wait. We will never be back.More
Great find in Fort Mill. We had the nachos with pork- I would highly recommend. We really wanted the meatloaf but they were sold out by 8:00 on a Saturday night. We had the shrimp and pasta and the hamburger. Food was good and fresh...and service was great.More
That the food was still fantastic as take out, and after a 20-minute drive, says it all - Had the salmon, shrimp pasta, and spinach salad, and we can’t wait to order again!
We love going to the Local Dish. We have been regular customers for several years. Their food is fresh and delicious. They have a quaint atmosphere and are located in the heart of old town Fort Mill. They have additional parking in the back of...the restaurant.More
You can’t go wrong at Local Dish, the regular menu items are amazing and the specials are usually better. You can taste the difference in the quality and care they take with the food. It is the first place we take out of town friends...and a favorite for date night!More
I am just here for one night, so I tried the #1 Trip advisor restaurant. mmm mmm! I had a cranberry margarita, very thoughtfully prepared. Next the fried Brussels sprouts, perfect. Finally the spinach salad with a piece of salmon. I loved that, too. It's...a small, noisy place, but the vibe was good. Staff were all friendly, and there was even a fellow Detroit Lions fan in the kitchen, so I finished my good meal with a hug. I understand why fellow diners rate Local Dish #1.More
I'm a long time customer - 2 years- but my last two visits were not as positive as I've been accustomed to. My rating would have been excellent in the past. Service is still good. I go there when I crave a good hamburger. Today,...I wanted hot and savory and the pot pie was suggested. I tried it and it was dry (I perceived it had been kept warm for a bit) and bland. I switched to my normal hamburger, requested med-well. It was served medium, and I understand the waitress's explanation of her mistake. But, I offered to pay and was promptly taken up on the offer with no other offer except to give me a to go box. The onions on the burger were big, white, and chunky, not the normal thinly sliced reds. The fries were very dark, looked like they were re-dunked. I didn't take the to go and came back to work hungry. The time before, the burger was cooked well, but on the sloppy side with chunky white onion and what appeared to be iceburg lettuce. I kinda wondered, but decided it was maybe a tough day in the kitchen. But after today, maybe not. Can you tell I'm a burger snob? I don't mind paying high dollar for them, either. I hope it's not a trend for Local Dish. I will probably try them in the future, but maybe not as my first option.More
I love the food here but wish they'd hang quilts on the wall or something to deaden the noise, since they pack so many people in the space. But the fried green beans? Yes, please! Entrees are always good, and I love the burger with pimento...cheese.More
Had not been here in awhile and was quickly reminded we need to visit here more often. Service and atmosphere were great. Had a small hometown group who all seemed to know each other at the small bar. Food was great and we all three...lived what we ordered. I had the meatloaf and it was such a generous portion I had lunch for the next day. Great place and deserves the high ratings.More
This downtown Ft. Mill restaurant in a relatively small space serves a nice variety of dishes. The deep fried green beans and Brussel sprouts were excellent (I’d give the edge to the green beans, which came with dipping sauce at $7). Members of our group...ordered braised beef short ribs, meat loaf, shrimp and pasta, and the crab cake sandwich. All were good. The fries that came with the sandwiches were excellent Not a cheap place, but reasonable. Fast, friendly service. Good place to eat.More
Local Dish was one of the first eateries we tried when we relocated down here in Jan '19. We have tried many of the menu offerings and found them all good and well prepared/presented. The staff is great!! Friendly, polite, attentive. There are an incredible...number of good restaurants in Charlotte environs, but we usually return to Local Dish at least monthly. Hope to try dinner soon.More
First let me say our server was great. And that pretty much ends the good comments. we have eaten here many times but over the last few months we have had other things going on so we have not been back until tonight. The first...clue that things were not going to go well was were immenditatly seated at 7:30 PM on a Friday night...in a place that we use to have either wait in line to get into or call for reservations. 1. French oinon soup - tasted like it came straight out of a can, more likle bullion than soup.. 2. Country fried steak - no taste, flat as a pancake, no body to it. 3. Meatloaf - once one of our favorites...could not eat it. Just horrible. When asked by the manager how things were I was honest with him and gave him feedback....he nodded and thanked me but made no offer to comp any portion on the meal...thats $100 I will never see again. So disapointed in what use to be a star in down town Fort Mill.More
We were in town visiting friends for the weekend and they suggested we try this place. Everything from atmosphere to the cocktails to the amazing food had us paddling in southern charm. We live 4 hours away and I asked my wife if this is...something that we could incorporate in our plans once a month...yes, it's that good. I had a cranberry infused margarita. Apparently they infuse their own alcohol. We sat at the bar and the lovely bar tender Taylor told us all about which infused flavors they had. My margarita was spectacular. We tried the shrimp and crab dip as an appetizer. It was delicious (maybe better than delicious but I don't have a word to use). I tried the pimento cheese sandwich and pasta salad and my wife had the crab cake and cole slaw. Both entrees were exceptional choices. We will be back to try more of their great food. We had the pleasure of interacting with our bartender Taylor and the owner John. They too were dripping with the southern charm we found so welcoming.More
