We were looking forward to some good seafood since we are at the beach. We came tired, and hungry after being on the beach all day. The parking was easy, found a spot right next to the restaurant. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who was very attentive even though she was waiting a lot of tables. We both ordered fish and chips, which is $12 per platter. (Not bad if it’s good). The food came out, and we were both very disappointed. The fish was so mushy / slimy we couldn’t eat it. I will say however, my husband ordered crab soup and he said it was very good!
Anyhow, we hated to complain but had to, and we got a refund for 1 of the platters. If you’re looking for a good atmosphere with cold drinks and bar food, this is a good spot. If you’re looking for amazing seafood, this isn’t it.

Family of 4, ages 16, 19, and 47 (x2). Had dinner on a Wednesday nite outside and was able to enjoy live music. Dinner was good - took all three deserts offered home: salted caramel cheese cake, peanut butter, and key lime pie. All were great!

The Washout on Center Street on Folly Beach is one of my favorite places to go for something to eat close to the beach. They have really good burgers and seafood along with many other delicious choices. I really like the laid back atmosphere and vibe here and it definitely embodies Folly Beach. The staff here is very friendly and works hard to make sure that you have everything that you need. I have enjoyed all of the meals and drinks that I have had from here.

After deciding Taco Boy wasn't worth the 90 minute wait, The Washout became plan B. There was no wait and we had our choice of indoor or outdoor seating. We chose outdoor despite the fact that no tables were big enough to accommodate our party of six. The she crab soup came out piping hot as was very good. (I've never had she crab soup so I can't say how it compares, but I liked it.) The buffalo shrimp wrap was also good.

Great atmosphere and live music the night we were there. Staff was very busy and attentive as they could be. Food was just okay, but it’s bar food. My husband moved the wings and my shrimp tacos were a good portion for only 2 tacos. Best fries I’ve had in a long time. No beers on tap.

First time eating here. It was about to rain, so we ask to move inside (which is still open air). Margaritas were strong, but I liked it! Fish tacos were Fabulous. Sweet potato fries were also excellent. Small flounder wasn't enough, get the large if you're hungry. I loved it! My husband and daughter weren't that impressed, said it was just OK. I would definitely go back!

I wanna start out by saying when me and my boyfriend starting coming here to eat and have drinks the staff was very friendly.. well this month twice I had a bad experience.. first time was the middle part of the month when I ordered food at the bar to go and while I waited I ordered a drink. I asked the bar tender if I could sit at a booth n wait for the food while I have my drink because the bar was very busy. She said yes.. since we have this 6 feet social distancing policy I sat a booth two booths away from another party. I was sipping on my drink n looking at a movie on Netflix waiting for the food. A young waitress seated four ppl right behind me.. then came to my table and told me I couldn’t sit there n I had to move.. I was like why? I was here first n I am waiting on food which I spend money here n I’m having a drink. She should have sat the other ppl two booths down from me if she was doing the distancing thing cause I was seated first. She looked confused never apologized on how she treated me n just said oh n walked off. I did not get up n when my food was ready I spoke the manager. He was a young guy I told him what happened. He apologized on her behalf but then said well in her defense... wait stop right there. She does not have a defense. She was wrong you don’t treat customers like that or speak to them like that. You apologize and speak to her explain to her how to be customer friendly ... another time I called to make a take out order like we always do when we are on folly n the girl who answered just says ummm no we are too busy n hung up.. I’m sorry I understand ur restaurant is busy but really. She could have said we are not taking take out orders over the phone at this time because we are busy but if you want to cal back later today we may be taking orders to go... we have now decided we will never come back to spend our money at this place.. they are rude

We are in unprecedented times in the restaurant Industry on Folly Beach and our staff has been stressed to accommodate the increased volume. As you are aware, about half of the restaurants on the island have been closed and are at limited capacity so the open restaurants are doing their best to service the increased demand. I would like to speak with you about your particular experience so that we could learn from this. We are still training some new staff and I would like to use your feedback as part of our training. If like flavorless food, I guess you may like this place. For vegetarians, the options are beyond limited. I ordered a side of cheese grits. A bowl of thick dry grits was topped with cold shredded cheese. i wanted to ask for butter to add some flavor. Awful! My famil orderEd chicken nachos where chicken had no seasoning, and Maui tacos were pale and overloaded with cheese but nothing else. One might call it a bar place, but’s no ever on tap. The only descent thing was a cocktail one of us ordered. It was a terrible end to an amazing day at Folly beach.

This restarant is an easy "bar type" food option. In our group, we had shrimp tacos, buffalo caesar chicken wrap, buffalo caesar shrimp wrap, wings, and mac and cheese bites.
Ordered to go.

The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. There was great live music as well. I gave it 4 stars because we weren't thrilled with the wait staff and only saw our waitress like twice so it was difficult to get the things we needed, but I don't know if that applies to the rest of the staff. Otherwise it was a great time and we recommend it!

We stopped by here for lunch today. The service was excellent, the beer was cold, the sweet tea was refreshing. I had the best cheeseburger today. It was cooked perfectly, and was juicy. My husband had the buffalo chicken wrap. I tried some of his wrap and honestly that was the best buffalo chicken wrap I’ve ever had! I highly recommend stopping by for some good food and frosty beverages!

Service with an Attitude!
For starters, I was too tired to dine in, so I tried calling in a to go order, but after 5 tries, I was unable to get ahold of anyone. I figured they were just busy, since it was a theme night, so I walked over anyway. When I get there, the 2 hostesses told me I needed to put in my to go order at the bar, then go back to talking to each other. They didn’t even bother giving me a menu. I walk over to the bar to put in my order and the guy who served me asked what I needed and when I told him I was told to put in a to go order back there, he said he needed to check on that. He came back and asked what I wanted, and I told him I needed to see a menu. He gave me a menu and took my order then gave me my receipt and told me it would be a few minutes and walked away. He was very short and huffy with me during all these transactions. When he came with my bag, he handed it to me and walked away before I could even say thank you! It’s like he couldn’t get rid of me quick enough. I was humiliated!
I understand it was a busy night, but if it wasn’t ok for me to place a to go order, all these people had to do was tell me so. I’ve been to many restaurants in my life that are packed busy like that and even have theme nights, and have received exceptional service, but The Washout will not make that list for me! I am very disappointed in the treatment I received and will not be going back. It’s a shame too, bc my food was delicious and the atmosphere at the restaurant seemed so fun!
Even more so, I hope this isn’t a normal occurrence, and management will read this review to correct this issue so this doesn’t happen to anyone else!

Great food & beachy atmosphere. We ate here the first evening in Folly Beach & then the next day for lunch. Allison was a sweet server, running her legs off. The first meal we had The Washout burger & blackened mahi-mahi tacos. Fries on the side for the burger & vegetable of the day, asparagus (very yummy) with the fish tacos. Lunch the 2nd time was the Seared Tuna Wrap & Flounder Basket. All fresh & tasty! Would definitely go back. Note: the hostess is in the back center near the outdoor seating (not on the street front). Enjoy!!

We arrived at 5:55 for dinner and Reggae music to start at 6:00. We were quickly seated outside and then waited 10 minutes for a server. She was nice but looked exhausted, took our order and food was quick. Shrimp wrap and flounder sandwich. Both good. The music didn’t start until 6:45 and the band sounded like it might have been the first time they ever played together! Also actual menu prices were higher than those on website. 8-15% approximately. Also charged for a more expensive wine when asked for house glass. However it’s Folly😂

Stopped in for lunch on the patio with our dog. Typical dive bar with a limited menu. We split a cheeseburger and an order of Mac n’ cheese bites, hubby had a beer and I had one of their featured mixed drinks. Everything was adequate.
