My wife and I returned for another visit to one of our favorite restaurants in Columbia. We had a bottle of Frank Family Chardonnay and an app of their great fried oysters. My wife had the soft shell crab special which she said was the...best she had ever had. I had thyme infused mahi which was great, with grits. Our server, Claire, was excellent. We enjoyed our visit and look forward to returning. This restaurant continues to deserve its high rating.More
Whoopee!!! I had my first soft shell crab poboy this year at Mr Friendly’s and it knocked my socks off. I also had their wild mushroom soup which was the absolute best mushroom soup that I’ve ever had!!!! On my poboy, I had to shred...their leaf of lettuce as shredding enhances the flavor of the poboy much more than a single leaf. My Bride also loved her meal and got one their great desserts. I got my usual one bite and loved the raspberry flavor. This is one of favorite places for lunch. Danny Hood I would have enjoyed this with you and your bride.More
Mr Friendly’s did it again. Great tasting salmon cooked perfectly!!! Add a great salad and a fantastic slaw with a bite. I love this place!
Our party of four returned for another visit to one of our favorite restaurants in Columbia. Valet parking is. Plus and we were promptly seated . The fried oyster app is our standard app and was wonderful as always we both had the bronzed mahi...and it was superb. There is a very nice wine list and we really enjoyed our visit. Visiting from out of town and on a local recommendation we went for an early dinner. So glad we did. Service was good. Very friendly atmosphere. The food was delicious and ample portions. Husband tried the sweet potato bisque and said it was delicious. We...both had the fall harvest salad and we both agreed it was one of the best we had ever had. The dressing and persimmons were so flavorful. Loved the herb butter with the hit and crusty bread. The buttermilk fried chicken was so light and crispy. I didn’t want the collards so there was no problem in substituting the sautéed veggies instead. Not a fan of gravy so got it on the side, but didn’t try it. I tried my husbands filet and it was perfectly cooked and so tender. He isn’t usually a big beef eater, but he really enjoyed his dinner.More
We wanted a restaurant that had more than just sandwiches. Thankfully the specials of the day were just right. We had the chicken pot pie and pulled pork quesadilla along with a carrot bisque soup and salads - all were tasty! Before we left we...decided to have dessert to celebrate a special occasion and the raspberry donut crumble cheesecake was perfect! Our server was the nicest young lady and regularly checked how things were for us.More
We had dinner at Mr. Friendly's after we diverted our trip from Charleston to Columbia. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. The menu included some very good specials. I particularly enjoyed the cornmeal dusted red snapper. Service was good and prices were comparable...to other restaurants in the area.More
Food pretty good but very expensive for the amount of food . We got 2 meals to Go for family - one was shrimp n grits. It was about 3 tbsps of food for $17 (lunch). Very disappointing for our daughter who was in the...hospital (we had taken her the meal and didn’t check the food before leaving Mr Friendly’s. We will not be returning.More
Yesterday I was able to go to one of my favorite restaurants, Mr. Friendly's in 5 Points. Everyone enjoyed their meals and I enjoyed my fresh oyster poboy. The homemade low country seafood and corn chowder was very good also. I will be back.
Our group of 3 really enjoyed our lunch today at Mr. Friendly’s. Viviene was a superb server and service was at the usual high level. We had the usual fried oyster app and it was outstanding as usual. Two of us had shrimp & grits...and it was wonderful. My wife had a Caesar salad with shrimp which she really enjoyed. A bottle of Sonoma Cutrer Chardonnay complemented our entrees well. We will certainly return soon.More
So very happy that we grabbed a reservation for graduation dinner here! The staff was excellent. From the appetizers thru the main courses and dessert, it could not have been any better. Highly recommended!!!
I had a great oyster poboy for lunch at Mr Friendly’s today. They are a great place for lunch now they are back open then. Fresh salad and perfectly cooked oysters makes my day. Glad to be running with the “Big Dogs” now that I...have recovered from a bad virus (not Covid I believe)!!! Drop the tail gate on the truck as I’m hopping in!!!More
Food was excellent and the atmosphere enjoyable. It is a little on the loud side if you are looking for a quiet meal but we had our kids - 5 and 8 - so that worked well for us. Great specials - I had the...spinach and strawberry salad and the shrimp and grits - both were delicious. They do have a small kids menu as well. I would love to go back!More

Great Lunch/Dinner at one of my favorite restaurants! I converted a single soft shell crab into ciabatta soft shell crab poboy and loved it. What more could you ask for while eating outside, with the pups, and a gentle 82° breeze blowing through my hair...or lack there of. The crab was cooked perfectly and the ciabatta bread made a great poboy. FLASH*** Mr Friendly’s said they were going to start back lunch service on April 12th. I’ll be back!!!More
