Reservation are needed but fortunately we were early and able to be seated. Oldest restaurant 1920 with 3rd generation still running it. Pasta Primavera and eggplant Parmigiano very good with bread roll sticks. Salad was excellent! Highly recommended if you in Columbia Sc for dinner.... Also have music Broadway or opera selections o. Food was excellent. Service was so so. We ordered from the Specials menu and really enjoyed our meal. No complaints at all about the food. Had reservations and they were not overly busy. However, we felt rushed. Waitress was a very fast talker and expected...decisions to be made just as fast. She took our drink order and wanted us to order dinner right away. We needed time to go thru the two menus, regular and specials. Felt like she was irritated because we were not ready to order as soon as she would have liked. We will go back. Would have rated a 5 had the service lived up to the standards of the establishment.More

Attended the Opera night on a Thursday. Understand the staff was busy to accommodate the group for Opera night, but service was slow. The braised chicken special was over cooked; would have sent it back but endured it. My friends veal Marsala was sent back,...and the second veal Marsala was barely satisfactory. Overall a disappointing experience.More

A well-rounded menu of classic Italian dishes and new strokes to keep you interested. The wine list is well-done. Staff and owners go out of their way to make you feel at home.

This oldest restaurant in South Carolina was filled with memories of the family who created it and still owns it. The homemade Italian offerings were delicious from the Appetizers to desserts. Great wine list and the service impeccable!

My wife and I had dinner at Villa Tronco on Friday night. We had traveled to Columbia for an event to be held the following night and wanted to have a nice meal on Friday night. I had read lots of good things about Villa...Tronco in the daily newsletter Only in South Carolina - we were not disappointed. We arrived on time for our reservation and were seated immediately in the front room with intimate booths. I was pleased to see Allagash White on tap! We started with an order of crispy fried calamari. We each had dinner specials - my wife the tuna and pasta and I had the pork ribeye with garlic mashed potatoes - not a morsel was left on either dish! We finished with an absolutely delicious cheese cake. Service throughout the evening was prompt and friendly. The only disappointment was the bread - bland and soft rather than hearty and crisp. If we find ourselves in Columbia in the future, we will definitely visit Villa Tronco again!More

This place isn’t even trying. Save you time and money, just buy a can of Chef Boyardee and a frozen pizza. It will taste better.

We have been going to the Villa Tronco for years. This last Friday may be the last time. We have always been pleased with the service and meals. However not this time. The service was very good. The atmosphere is second to none. The house...salad was awful. It was limp. The lettuce was slightly brown. The oil and vinegar dressing was missing the vinegar. Also, it was unnecessarily expensive. Though the entree was good (noodles slightly overcooked), I expect a lot better for a $25 entree. An expensive restaurant doesn’t make it an excellent one.More

Lunch here with a group yesterday. Had the 1/2 pizza and salad combo but the pizza was thin and burned on bottom. Unedible! Such a shame as they used to have very good little lunch pizzas. That said, cup of tomato-basil soup was outstanding! Their...food seems to be very inconsistent. Just when you find a winner, they change a tried and true selection. So sorry they can’t get it right!More

We went this evening because it was "jazz and standards" night. Not really jazz but enjoyable music . We shared the calamari...nice portion, and a delicious dipping sauce served with them. My husband ordered the osso bucco and was not disappointed. He thoroughly enjoyed it....I had the lobster and shrimp risotto. Very good. Our waitress was very attentive, did not rush our meal and made sure everything was to our liking. This was a fun evening for us as we celebrated Valentine's Day Eve.More

Me and the wife were in downtown Columbia and decided to check our Villa Tronco. This place has a long history. The lasagna and spaghetti with clams was delicious. Morgan provided five star service. Our order was correct, her table visits were timely, and she...provided great casual conversation. Come see Morgan for great service and great Italian dishes.More

My husband and I recently moved to Columbia from New Jersey and were craving old fashioned Italian food. Villa Tronco has very good traditional Italian fare, i.e. button mushrooms with garlic and olive oil, lasagna and ravioli. It also has a cozy, old fashioned feet....The service was also very good.More

We visited the Villa Tronco with my family while visiting my grandson at USC. The menu had all the typical Italian dishes. The prices were fair and the portions quite good. It is a family restaurant that has been there many years. All in all...a great meal.More

You can probably get by without a reservation but you want to be in the front room so a reservation would be a good idea.
