Had dinner here with some friends after the second day of the SCASL* conference and was pleasantly surprised. Sadly, no Amber Ale was available but I was given a taste of a replacement suggestion (can't remember it now - I swear I only had a...More

Do check USC sporting events before planning a trip, immediately before and after you don't stand a chance at a table. Aside from that, this is a great casual place for a very good beer and a good upscale bar menu. Most beers are seasonal,...More

They make decent beer. The variety is limited. I wish they would have more beers in the rotation. But the standard beers are worth a try. The menu is also a bit limited, I normally order off the special board, the food is usually very...More

Liked the name, liked the outside seating, and the vibe inside was cool too. Just very limited on wine and beer selection, menu lacked on variety as well.

We have been meeting here weekly for years. A persistent gripe with this place has been the problem with sun glare because there are no shades to block it out. They totally ignore what the customer wants; they will not put them up!. Another example...More

This reviewer has a lot of complaints, so why does he keep coming back, week after week, year after year? There is only one reason. He knows it. I know it. Every toddler in town knows it. We have the best hand-warmed martinis in town.

This is a delightful little local tavern, complete with beers brewed on-site and one of the best burgers in town. The ESB cheese is a must, but so is the lamb gyro. Decisions, decisions. The staff busts their butts, but are attentive too.

Good beer selection, pleasantly dark atmosphere where it's quiet enough hear each other, but still bustling around you. We had the lamb gyro and Greek salad, the salad was absolutely excellent. Had the wheat beer, which I would order again anytime, and the IPA, which...More

We started with a flight of beers, beginning with the wheat and finishing with extra stout. None had a strong head and were slightly weak. The shrimp, clam linguine special was quite tasty as was the burger.

Old building that has been remodeled and still has a rustic feel. The food is mostly very upscale bar food but very good. Has its own brewery so lots of different brews if that is your thing. Tough to get a table as they didn't...More

The Hunter-Gatherer has a very nice atmosphere, a very tasty craft beer selection, and a menu that you can actually read through in a short time. My specialty pizza was absolutely delicious, which was very welcome because of the small size and not-so-small price. The...More

Sorry for the slow and partially helpful response. For us a large group is 8-12, most often we can seat 8-12 people in a reasonable amount of time. A group of more than 12 would have to find separate tables. We don't take... More

Description
Hunter-Gatherer Brewery has been brewing and serving classic ales since 1995. Starting in 2015, we will regularly feature cask-conditioned ales served from wood kilderkins made by Alastair Simms, the only master cooper in the United Kingdom.

Michael Jackson, aka the "Beer Hunter", visited the Hunter-Gatherer Brewery in 1997. He wrote that the Hunter-Gatherer is "the kind of place CAMRA (Campaign For Real Ale) members might enjoy. The beer is the hero, rather than the brewery being an afterthought. In the U.S., And even sometimes in Britain, the latter is too often the case."

Michael Jackson was the best beer writer and critic the world has known. A compliment from Michael Jackson is as meaningful as it gets in the brewery world.
