First visit in a few years, and I was astounded by how delicious everything tasted! I typically think of the Gatherer as a brewery who happens to serve food. Boy was I mistaken! My Greek chicken was some of the best I have ever tasted. The salad did not disappoint. Even the bread was out of this world! Ironically, I... More

Place is amazing, very relax and casual environment. I really enjoy my time there. The personnel dont rush you like other restaurants. I ate duck breast and was excellent. The beer are very, very good. Price is not bad for the excellent quality of food and beer. Honestly I recommend this place. A+

Great service and great atmosphere. Staff very friendly. Quality of the food was really good and very reasonable prices. Beer selection limited to their own brews. So, not a lot of variety. But, the beers that we had were pretty good.

Found this place last year in Oct when we came in town for a concert! Everyone found something they liked. Came back in December, and now! Great burgers and gyros. Don't forget the specials board and their desserts are REALLY great!!

I needed a quick bite to eat after a workshop and this place was on the way back to my hotel. It was early evening so not crowded yet, but still hopping. It was a good pick. Nice wheat beer and lamb gyro at the bar - pleasant atmosphere. I'd go again if I come back to town. Would be... More

Food and service are always excellent. Have eaten here several times over the past two years. Last night my wife had the duck and I had the BBQ Brisket. Melt in your mouth brisket. I could cut it with a fork and the BBQ sauce was amazing. Sausage Balls app were also very good. Enjoy the atmosphere and again, service... More

Very accommodating to our large party of 22. In fact there was another large party in there at same time. No complaints

This restaurant is in downtown Columbia, virtually surrounded by state government and university buildings, so it has the advantage of a stable customer base. H-G is located in a repurposed old building and when you step inside you immediately see that it is a combination restaurant and micro brewery (four huge tanks). For whatever reason, it has not been on... More

I have frequented this establishments many times over the years and it never fails me. The atmosphere is very casual and a bit close to your neighbor, but it seems to work. On this trip, Cinco de Mayo, my friend and I had the black bean dip for an appertizer. It was great as usual and the chips were made... More

Saw all of the good reviews and thought we would give it a try. As always, the TA ratings were spot on. The restaurant has a good selection of local brews. Daily menu offerings change so it would be worth checking if you are a local. We started with the black bean dip. If we had ran out of chips... More

Description
Hunter-Gatherer Brewery has been brewing and serving classic ales since 1995. Starting in 2015, we will regularly feature cask-conditioned ales served from wood kilderkins made by Alastair Simms, the only master cooper in the United Kingdom.

Michael Jackson, aka the "Beer Hunter", visited the Hunter-Gatherer Brewery in 1997. He wrote that the Hunter-Gatherer is "the kind of place CAMRA (Campaign For Real Ale) members might enjoy. The beer is the hero, rather than the brewery being an afterthought. In the U.S., And even sometimes in Britain, the latter is too often the case."

Michael Jackson was the best beer writer and critic the world has known. A compliment from Michael Jackson is as meaningful as it gets in the brewery world.
