We stayed at the Marriott next to this little deli on Main Street in Columbia. We were dismayed at the prices for breakfast at the Marriott so finding a $7.00 omelet at the East Bay Deli was a good find. The restaurant was never busy...during our weekend and would benefit from some kind of signage in the window that says breakfast is served. The main menu board behind where you order doesn't list breakfast on it, only after asking if they serve breakfast did the cashier point out the breakfast menu on a side wall. I ordered the Western Omelet and my wife ordered a bagel with cream cheese. We were given a number and took a seat in the dining room. Business was very slow during our time in the dining room. The omelet was $7.99 and my wife's bagel was $2.99. Coffee was $1.90. Food quality was good. I enjoyed my rye toast with my omelet and potato rounds. The omelet was cooked nicely but could have had a bit more toppings. My wife's bagel came with a little cup of diced cantaloupe, a nice touch. My omelet was served on a china plate but I was given plastic ware to eat it with. All in all for the price this is a good value. We loved the eclectic decor of the dining room and enjoyed looking at all the memorabilia on the walls. Note - be careful, some of the tables are very wobbly. The first table we took was very wobbly, management should check these and level them.More

The broccoli cheddar soup was thick and nasty. It tasted like baby food warmed in the microwave. The French dip sandwich was Luke warm and tasted nasty. It looked like something you would buy and warm up at a convenience store. My husband’s burger was...okay, but everything else was sub par and terrible.More

I'd generally be willing to give this a 4-star review. However, I felt like they somewhat screwed me through inattention. We arrived on a Friday around 11:30 a.m. My wife ordered a sandwich and the cashier noted that hers came with chips. She got the...standard ones. I requested a BLT and then asked for jalapeno chips, which I saw against the far wall in a display. The cashier then stated, "Those cost $1 extra." I was somewhat puzzled as to why jalapeno chips would cost extra, but I approved. We then got a booth and obtained our water. We waited for our orders to be called out. My wife's was first and she went up to fetch it. After a couple of more minutes, my order came up. I got it and sat down to eat (quite hungry). I then observed some jalapeno slices on my BLT. Generally, I like jalapenos and I also like BLTs - just not necessarily together. As I was picking off the slices, it dawned on me that this was what cost the extra $1. The cashier apparently thought that I was asking for jalapenos ON MY SANDWICH, in addition to the chips, WHICH SHE GAVE ME. WTF? It wasn't worth the time or the $1 to argue about it so I let it go. But for anyone else dining here - be SURE that they understand your order for chips vs. toppings...More

Note--the rating system won't let me give them 4.5 stars, but I won't give them 5 because I'm genuinely disappointed they didn't have muffuletta on their menu. I used to get it downtown, but I haven't been there in a while, so I don't know...if they still sell it. If they start offering their Gumbo, I'll probably update my rating. Glad they opened one in Northeast Cola. Good sandwiches, good soups. They're letting us into the restaurant now, but we have to be masked. I saw a salad bar, but it had covering. I think one tells them what one wants and they dish it up for you. They have genuine New York cheesecake--Junior's. Not NY "style", it's the real thing, straight outta Brooklyn, NY. It's difficult not to rave, but I'll just say after trying Junior's, you'll compare other cheesecakes to it for the rest of your life.More

We recently ate at the Columbia location. There is a door inside this deli that connects to the Marriott and we were staying at the Marriott, so it was super convenient. I had been hoping they would blow me away. The sandwiches were very good,...but I wasn't blown away. My husband ordered the New York Yankee (corned beef & pastrami) and I ordered the Club Calhoun (turkey & pastrami). Both are advertised as triple decker sandwiches. When asked what bread we wanted, the girl behind the counter said she always prefer the Texas Toast. That's what we did. When we got back to our room and opened the takeout containers, we discovered neither sandwich had been made as a triple decker! SO ANNOYING! If Texas Toast is considered an upgrade or something then she should have mentioned that. The fries were delicious and the portion was great. My husband's New York Yankee was better than my Club Calhoun. The flavor was simply better. Neither sandwich came with condiments. I paid extra for a small container of Russian dressing on the side and used that and it improved the overall experience a ton! The price for each sandwich/fry combo. would have been even better if they had been triple deckers as promised, but even so, the price was pretty good. I think if I went back, I would try some other items.More
