Our tired, hot and hungry family stumbled across this restaurant whilst walking round Charleston. It turned out to be one of the best meals of our US trip! The kids still rave about the "best Mac n Cheese", and the BBQ and 5 pigsmen were...all delicious. Everything was fabulous.More

Food was great and big portion sizes. Neither of us finished even though we wanted to. The drinks were tasty and strong!

nice young waiter who was clueless about what to do when we complained about the ribs being so dry they were inedible . He should have offered to take them back and offer something else. He just told us that that is how we make...them here! We ordered the full rack and there was hardly any meat on any of the ribs and they were dry as a bone. Certainly not worth $36 Disappointing ....More

After doing the historical tour in Charleston, we were hungry for lunch. Another tourist recommended Poogan’s so we checked it out. Everything was amazing! The service was great and the food was so tasty! My husband said it was the best brisket sandwich he has...ever had. Their fries are so good also! The broccoli was perfect and the macaroni and cheese was creamy. We would definitely come back here if we ever get to Charleston again!More

Cute bbq place with tasty food. We walked here from our hotel and had a good experience. There were 9 of us and we all enjoyed our lunch.

With lots of good reviews, my wife and I decided to try Poogans. We both regretted it after. They were out of cornbread by 7 pm. The pulled pork was dry and cold. Same with the smoked sausage. Mac and cheese was a joke. It...was just soupy milky noodles. The best part of the meal was the bbq sauce and the potato salad, and even that wasn't great. The only redeeming factor was that our waiter was good.More

We were walking aimlessly and looking for a spot to eat with our two teen age kids for a late lunch. We stopped in here and we were all so glad. We had the cornbread to start, which was pretty good. It actually had pieces...of sweet corn in it. My daughter and I had the brisket sandwich on a sweet Hawaiian roll that was great. My son had the chicken tenders and my wife had a salad with pulled pork on it. Everything was great. The meats were tender and the home-made sauces were also excellent. DOn't forget the drinks, the Bloody Mary & Rum Runner were well-crafted and delicious. Luke was very friendly and did a great job as our server.More

This place was by far the worst of the four day trip to Charleston. The ribs were terrible no meat all bone and impossible to cut. This chicken was bland. I would say this was a terrible dining experience.

Poogan's Smokehouse provided unique cocktails and a delicious Southern BBQ meal. Brisket and pulled pork along with Collards (my first time having them and my favourite of the whole trip). Our boys tried Cheerwine soda for the first time and loved it! The server was...friendly and treated us very well. Highly recommend.More

Awesome lunch spot for the family. Cold beer from local breweries. The pulled pork is always good and can be served on a classic sandwich or with several other meals.

We intended to go to Poogan's porch, but the wait was too long. We decided to walk here. It was not quite Poogan's Porch, but great ambiance inside and great food. The wait staff also did an excellent job. It was a great backup restaurant...for us and would recommend this restaurant for a nice meal. I would highly recommend the ribs! Very very good!More

We stopped in thinking since we love the original Poogan’s Porch, we would love this place too. We started with the cornbread since we were starving, but we’re sadly disappointed that it came out lukewarm. The butter on top wouldn’t even melt. I ordered the...pulled pork sandwich and it came with a giant piece of gristle as the main part of the meat, and the rest of it was so burnt I thought maybe I had ordered burnt ends instead of pulled pork. My husband ordered the four pork sandwich and it was better than mine. Not sure our experience was good enough for a return visit with so many better dining options in downtown. Was hoping for better.More

Ordered a BBQ sandwich, coleslaw and 4 pork sandwich both with fries. The atmosphere was the same as every bar in town load music and lots of TVs. Asked the waiter what size the coleslaw was and he replied it was a ramekin. The food...did not take long since BBQ is cooked ahead. The coleslaw ramekin was a plastic condiment to go tablespoons worth. The BBQ was on the sandwich was half fat and inedible. There were two unmarked BBQ sauces on table, The 4 pork was mediocre fries were good. The waiter failed to notice we failed to eat most of our food. I am local and later my daughter said "I could have told you not to go their. She was right.More

I believe it was a full bar as we entered the restaurant. Sorry, I don't indulge, so I don't always pay attention to the bar items. However, I'm pretty confident there was a full bar at this location.

They have some tables and chairs out front that would be dog friendly.
