Saw the great reviews and it seemed like it would be a great place for us. We like that era cocktails and atmosophere.
So we made an OpenTable reservation on our way back to town (we live in Nashville btw on vacay here). Parking was...a bit hard to find, but there were plenty of metered spots on Reid Street right across from Prohibition. Note that metered parking ends at 6pm!
Upon entering however, the hostesses insisted we put on nasty disease spreading face diapers to get to our table and subjected us to an IR temperature check. Note that we didn't see any of this unsanitary practice at the neighboring establishments. Even the staff at nearby bars weren't wearing nasty face covering which would have made us MUCH more comfortable! On top of it, the hostesses didn't do their job of checking us in to OpenTable which resulted in a NO-SHOW which we are disputing. Stop adopting this nonsensical practice of pretending there is a 'DemPanic" going around. I'm an MD btw!! There IS NO pandemic. I'm in radiation therapy and have yet to see a single person die from this fake disease.
Anyway, the Happy Hour from 4-6 was a great deal. We had double portions of most of the $5 food specials and also had the Thyme Bourbon and the Pincante Margaritas. I loved both. My wife really like the 'ritas.
We sat in the back bar which was much more intimate and the bar stools had backs which is important to my wife. The bartenders Jake and Jennifer were also wonderful and great conversationalists.More
We went there twice during our trip, for drinks and dessert. Service is excellent and in particular Chris was very accommodating and gracious, as we came close to closing, but still served us. I would recommend you try this place.
Attentive, knowledgeable service! Paige was our waitress and she was great!
The cocktails were superbly designed and executed. I had bourbon cocktails and my wife had gin.
We had the charcuterie, Brussels sprouts, grouper and angus burger. All
Good music mix too!
Very popular place on Saturday night. Bar area was crowded. Back area not so much. Patrick was especially friendly and helpful. His dinner recommendations were terrific. Atmosphere was very warm and trendy. Decor was cabin-like in the back hallway. We loved it.On Sunday we returned...and sat at the less-crowded bar. Corey took care of us very well. He offered tastes of the beers offered. I settled on a local Cooper River. Enjoyed the evening.More
Great place! Beautiful outdoor atmosphere and delicious drinks. Only subtracting a star because the wait was very long but it was so nice outside I didn’t really mind hanging out for a bit. I got the grouper catch of the day and it was ok,...maybe just not really my taste but everything else was good.More
Started off with the HOUSE MADE CHARCUTERIE Could have stopped their. Great plate of flavors and extremely filling. Will come back for that alone, although my shrimp and grits were very good to.
They did require masked and had proper social distancing in the restaurant...unlike some others in the city. Good for them.More
We came to Prohibition looking for great craft cocktails and they did not disappoint. The Margarita Picante and The Warthog were fantastic. What we were most surprised at was the delicious food. We had a selection of appetizers and nothing that came out was less...than delicious. The steak tartare is a must have and the cheese plate and charcuterie are great for people looking for an innovative combination of local ingredients. I wish I lived in Charleston just to make Prohibition one of my go to spots.More
Wow! I mean it when I say these bartenders know exactly what they're doing. There is so much effort put in to every cocktail it makes even some of the pricier drinks worth it. I also want to give props to the manager. We were...there on a night when a couple beside us had an issue with the price of their bill and he handled the situation with so much kindness and professionalism. Also, the live music is AMAZING! We went on several different nights and were able to hear different genres.More

We had no reservations for our party of nearly 10 and they were able to accommodate us. The hour was early on a Sunday evening so that may be unusual but they were excellent in every way with the service given to us. If you can possibly call ahead or reserve through an app, I would recommend it - just so the staff doesn’t get slammed.
