used to be a regular here. Used to love it. The ambience used to be fun, full of life and happy. My last visit, I was sad to see how much it had changed. I’m not sure if the owner is still the same, but...whoever is running it now is incompetent. The food was not that great, the ambience was very tense and sad. The restaurant has lost it’s charm. I would like to come back, but I’m hoping the next time I do, it will be the neighborhood friendly restaurant we all knew and loved. Good luckMore

We were looking for some decent Italian food. Since Covid is still a concern we decided to order takeout from LaFontana, big mistake! The $19 chicken piccata was a half chicken breast served with a quarter artichoke and some dry pasta. There was absolutely no...sauce in the container. The chicken Saltimboca was similar in quality. The antipasta was good but for $75 worth of takeout, there are much better options in Charleston!More

Two weeks ago, we had guests from out of state. They wanted to treat us to dinner, but didn’t want to go to a restaurant. We ordered carry-out from La Fontana Italian Restaurant. All the food had to be reheated because it was not warm...at all. Salad was not included. Two of the rolls were burnt - not just over baked, but actually black. One of our guests bounced a roll off the counter top because it was so hard. There’s no way the staff would have served those rolls to a table in the restaurant - I’m sure they saw an easy way to get rid of them - in a carry out order. I was very embarrassed and will NEVER order from LaFontana again!More

We went to La Fontana last Saturday night Feb. 8th. My wife had the Lasagne and I had the Veal Parm. The sauce was really terrible. Bland and no taste. My veal was paper thin and way too much breading and also way overcooked. Definitely...too over priced for the for the meals. The lasagne had too much meat in it and it had no taste to it. Sorry to discribe this restaurant like this, but it really was bad. And the cannoli's were not worth eight dollars each. Maybe four dollars, but not eight. Transaction # 136314More

Visited this afternoon, and everything was perfect. The hostess/server, Nicki, was friendly, courteous, and attentive. Never had to wait for a refill. Dinner was served timely, and was delicious. We had an eggplant dish, a shrimp risotto dish, and stuffed manicotti. It was homemade, fresh...and tasty. Far cry from the boil-in-a-bag chain Italian restaurants. This food is old-school Italian, and the prices were very reasonable considering the generous portions. This will now be our weekly treat.More

The food here is decent----nothing to rave about, but ok, and reasonably priced. Our server was attentive without being intrusive, BUT, the entire restaurant smeeled so strongly of the tablets they put in the men's urinal that we could barely stand it. It permeated all...the way to the very back of the room and the bathroom is right by the front door as you come in. Add to that the over all musty, old smell of the carrpet and seating and you have a very unpleasant, pugent environment. We will not be going back.More

I would not go back if the food was free. It was nasty plated sloppy tasted as bad as it looked. The waitress didn't even know what I had ordered when my plate had arrived, the food was unrecognizable. I would rather eat at Fazoli's...fast food Italian and it would have be better. I’m a foodie and this place need to be on Restaurant NIGHTMAREsMore

This was our first visit to La Fontana. Wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We orderd the Artichoke appetizer,it was simple but tasty. Our main course were the Shrimp with pasta, which was very good and the Manicotti which was also very good.Neither of our main courses were...loaded with garilc or other seasonings but just enough to make flavorful and not overpowering. We would recommend this place if you like old school Italian food! Cozy atmosphere, good service and moderate prices.More

The food was good, but not outstanding. The prices were a bit high for what we got. Our server was a bit rough around the edges. He was nice but clearly not experienced in being a waiter. For the price of our meal, we expected...a bit more of an experience.More

Busy, small place with an intimate feel. Marc was thorough and attentive. Chicken Alfredo was delicious. Delicious bread with olive oil and herbs completed the meal.
