My wife and I visited Charleston today on our way to Savannah. With one opportunity to enjoy a special night out, we evaluated our options and decided Magnolias would be our best option. Overall, we had a reasonably good experience. The food was delicious! The...gentlemen who seated us and later addressed my wife’s allergy went out of his way to assist my wife. Our waitress, Lee, was very nice though my wife’s pepper (Capsaicin) allergy seemed to rattle her. My issue is with the kitchen. They were made aware of this issue over a month ago when we booked the reservation. I would assume that in preparing for the night’s service they would review reservations for unique situations and appropriately prepare for them. I do not believe that is the case at Magnolias. Once Lee identified my wife’s allergy she visited with the kitchen to determine what on Magnolias extensive menu might work. The kitchen’s response, a piece of protein sautéed or seared and salted with a vegetable. I am acutely aware of the chaos that accompanies most kitchens in an upscale restaurant on a busy night. Sorry, no excuse. A little more effort would not have been asking too much. Thanks to the gentleman who seated us (Who went out of his way) my wife enjoyed a wonderfully prepared piece of salmon with a variety of accompaniments that included several of the items we were originally told would not work. The tipping point was our waitress informing us that there was bread service, but the butter had pepper in it. Is there no plain butter in Magnolias kitchen? Again, the food was delicious!More

Both of us had the Parmesan Crusted catch of the day, flounder in this case, and really to say it was delicious is such an understatement!!! Perfectly cooked and presented. We followed it up with the Pecan Pie and ice cream. The best! The service,...from start to finish from everyone, but especially our waiter Steve, was exceptional! Definitely recommend, and we look forward to our next visit!More

The food was good but did not blow me away. We had the Classic vegetarian platter and Seafood over grits. I felt the food to be a bit bland in flavor, particularly the pimento cheese and the "lobster butter" sauce on the shellfish. I can't...say anything was not good. It just wasn't great.More

The food and service is excellent. One person in our party has celiac disease and cannot have any gluten. The staff is very knowledgeable on proper food preparation and handling for folks with special diets. When we come back to Charleston dinner at Magnolias will...be on our agenda.More

While our service was very good, out meals were overrated and overpriced I make a better Chicken Walford salad, I did like the various raisins. The chicken sandwich ordered by my husband was ok. Very rich and did not travel well. the setting is nice,...parking is close (pay per car/hour). I know I am the one off here, but I didn't see value for the price; perhaps, we just don't like the heavy sauces etc We were celebrating our Anniversary and Birthdays sorry folks, I will not go backMore

Excellent food & service. Scallops, shellfish over grits & Parmesan crusted fish were amazing. Pecan dessert was also a favorite.

Stopped for an afternoon libation and quick snack after landing in Charleston… Cannot say enough good things. Great service and food. Blue cheese potato chips were amazing! Walked away pleasantly surprised and full and will try to get another stop in before I leave.

We had the best of the best! Egg roll, fried green tomatoes, Seafood Bouillabaisse, wedge salad! The customer service was excellent! Brock, our server, knew the menu and was so pleasant! He made the experience enjoyable!

The service was very professional, the food was so delicious, the atmosphere was good (a little loud because they were busy). There are so many great restaurants in Charleston but this one raises to the top, the best.

We ate a late lunch there yesterday snd to say the least we weren’t really all that impressed with service or the food. For all the past great things we’ve heard about this restaurant it really didn’t live up to the hype. Another aspect that...really disappointed me was the lack of speed our waiter exhibited. He was attentive to us but when it was time for us to leave he took forever and disappeared for a good amount of time. Not sure if we’d go back or recommend this restaurant.More

We heard good things about this restaurant. Lunch was meh. But we met some friends and sat talking for a long time and the wait staff was very, very gracious. That's appreciated. The atmosphere was nice as well. We're foodies so we expect a lot...from food in Charleston. I had bouillabaisse and it was ok, not great.More

I was a little concerned when I saw the location was right near where the cruise ships dock. I figured the food might not be great, but it was fantastic. The buffalo chicken was probably the best I've ever had. Everything we ordered was excellent....Service was perfect and efficient. It was my favorite meal so far in Charleston.More

My wife and I had dinner there. There are 2 dining rooms - the one up front which is large and rather noisy, and the one in the back called 'The Gallery' which is where we were seated. VERY nice ambiance - quiet, refined, nice...background music that wasn't too loud. The service was excellent and the food was excellent. We both ordered the crab bisque which was very good. I had the blackened catfish and my wife had the halibut. Catfish tasted very good. I order catfish a lot and this was as good as I've ever had. I also ordered the pecan pie for dessert and it was fresh and had that perfect pecan pie taste - not gummy or overly sweet.More

We celebrated a family gathering at Magnolias and could not have been more pleased. Don’t miss the Fried Green Tomato and the Pimento Cheese appetizers. But the mussels were my favorite. The Parmesan Crusted catch of the day is a great entree. Service was exceptional....Easy parking next door.More

Possibly, a kids menu, but I wouldn’t think this is an ideal place for a meal with kids, as it is a bit upscale and not that “kid friendly”.
