Has a great reputation and supposed to always have long lines. We just walked in to a half empty restaurant. We tried the famous fried chicken and the famous fried oysters. Both were average. Not sure why this place is an institution. Maybe we picked a bad day?

Our family had a wonderful meal at Jestine's. Very convenient location if walking around downtown. The fried chicken was fantastic, but the very best part of the meal was the dessert! I highly recommend the pecan pie and the Coca-cola cake. I wish I had a slice of each right now!

Casual dining. Kid and family friendly. Great customer service. Walking distance to King Street and Charleston Market. And the food was DELISH!! I went for the fried okra and shrimp and grits. The shrimp and grits made my heart sing. The complimentary sweet pickled cucumbers was also a delightful surprise. Will definitely be back when come back to visit Charleston.

Went with a couple teenagers and they also raved about the food. Had fried flounder which was cooked to perfection. The turkey sandwich was big and delish. Also picked up some desserts to eat later on and the cookies and brownies were fresh and like I had made them myself. ( I make some darn good cookies and brownies!!) Prices... More

This was fun. Good service, okra, fried chicken livers, fried chicken and comfortable dining room. Time it right, could be a long wait.

I had the 2 piece fried chicken and was very good. Couldn't finish, brought one piece home. My husband had the pecan crusted chicken and said it was very good also. Desserts are yummy. Had pecan pie and coca cola cake. Reasonably priced and friendly staff.

Couldn't resist 3 pieces of fried chicken; though 2 might have left room for dessert. No complaints, as this was as tasty and moist a fried chicken as I've ever had. Good fries, nice vinegary cole slaw and a cold Palmetto ale. A late lunch, which made for a very light and late supper that night.

Stopped in on a recommendation from the carriage tour driver. Had fried chicken and it was awesome! Mashed potatoes and gravy were from scratch and the green beans were very good. Only regret not saving room for desert. Definitely worth stopping.

Really good food, good service and a cute place. The coca cola cake for dessert was the highlight! We got there before the dinner rush but people were lined up around the building waiting for a table. A neat, historic place to have a meal!

It took ten years to make it back to this glorious hole in the wall but I made it. It was the same light flaky ice box cold crust pie filled with rich creamy pudding with just the right amount of coconut folded in that delighted me years ago. Worth the stop but very crowded try mid afternoon!
