Rude and blasé. Yes, that means they’re pretending to be upscale. When my girlfriend and I tried to enter the restaurant, the man at the door asked us if we had a reservation. Stating we did not and were hoping for a walk-in - given...the restaurant was nearly empty - we were told this was impossible and not how the restaurant operates. Apparently, you must make a reservation beforehand or you cannot get in. We then decided to ring up the restaurant, which stated that there was ample room for the night and that we were more than welcome. Yes, I am paraphrasing this. Either way, a business that operates this way is not worthy of visiting, even if the food reviews seemed decent. For reference: my girlfriend was wearing a dress and I a buttoned shirt on a jeans, with appropriate footwear. Given other people in the restaurant were dressed similarly, I imagine that shouldn’t have been the issue either. End of the story: the restaurant does not uphold “Southern Hospitality”; something we have experienced at literally every other place we’ve visited. If you want a great steak: go to Halls Chophouse instead: Epic food and lovely people! As such, only one recommendation: STAY AWAY.More

The lobster was truly outstanding. Know going in this will be one of the more expensive meals of your trip, but know it's worth it! I've had better steaks truth be told but for the lobster - it's a win!

Excellent service. Apparently, a lot of rules with them on making a reservation. But we made the cut. Great drinks, appetizers and steaks. We had seafood sides that were delicious. My brother-in-law had a huge lobster and he loved it. The young man that stands...in front who apparently guards the door we devoid of a personality, but once inside it was very friendly. No room for desserts.More

I'm sorry but we visited here celebrating something special for my sister ... bartender at the rooftop Bar Raphael had no personality at all ! I don't recommend this place to stop for a cocktail almost $27 for a glass of house Cabernet and a...beer... Not to mention my drink was served in a plastic glass with someone else's lipstick on it! Way overpriced !!! So very disappointed will not be revisiting this establishment for sure!More

Fine dining the way it should be. Nice linins, excellent service, not overly creative, just well-prepared dishes served in a professional manner. The restaurant itself is well laid out, you’re not sitting on top of each other, and tables are good size. The seating is...comfortable plenty of room for plates and such. Don’t know what else to say but go and enjoy!More

We dined there 2 nights and were well pleased. The first night he ordered Oysters Rockefeller which were really good. I ordered grilled octopus, prefectly grilled and delicious, large serving so may want to share. I had the crabcake which was great. My husband ordered...their 8 oz filet which was excellent. I tried a nitro grey goose cosmo. Fun experience and very pretty when served. Great first time exerience but went for regular GG cosmo the 2nd night. HIs Makers Mark Manhattans were excellent. Our server the first night was Pete, who gave fantastic, friendly and fun service, added to the enjoyment of our meal. The second we shared garlic calamari which was excellent. We repeated our entrees of crab cake and him 8 os filet which was perfectly prepared. Our server began with the orders and service fine, until a couple was seated next to us. I gather a regular and our server was mainly paying attention to them. We ordered wine before the meal but after our entrees were served no wine. Finally had to ask another person. By the time our wine arrived I had finished my meal so the service wasn't nearly as up to par as the first night. The first night was easily a five overall. The second night a 4 on service. Great restaurant with beautiful ambiance. Would return and recommend to others.More

We were welcome by the hostess who wished us a Happy 50th Ann. We were seated and Paul was our waiter who treated us so graciously. We selected the 8 oz tenderloin, baked potato and salad and peach cobbler for dessert. He was so kind...to split the large baked potato and salad in half. We will certainly go back and enjoy another delicious meal on our next visit to Charleston.More

Was in town for a meeting and 5 of us decided to go Grill 225 based on a recommendation. It was early 7.15pm we went through the swing doors and approached the hostess. She inquired do we have a reservation, the restaurant was empty and...its a large place. No we replied well you probably need one, one of our party asked probably or definitely need a reservation ?? she replied with you will be better going upstairs to our bar up there. it was professional but it was a clear brush off which we thought was pretty funny at same time as being very condescending We went upstairs and had awesome timeMore

This was our second time eating at Grill 225. What a disappointment the second time around. The atmosphere and service still remain a 5, but the food was very underwhelming. Both my appetizer and main were drowning in sauce. Both dishes also were too garlicky....My husband’s filet was dry and lacking flavor. Unfortunately, we most likely won’t be back. It’s just too expensive to chance an average dinner.More

Absolutely wonderful on all points. Our server, John, was very personable, attentive and entertaining. There were seven in our party and our menu selections included seafood and steaks, multiple sides and beverages, coffee and desserts. Our main courses and sides all arrived at the same...time so there was no one having to wait. The food was exceptional as usual. It wasn't just a meal; it was a lovely experience. It is so gratifying that this level of quality and professionalism is still available.More

Cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. John was our server, and he was great. The chopped Caesar salad is not only delicious, but easy to eat since it is finally chopped. The steaks were delicious and the wine Selection is probably one of...the best in Charleston. Highly recommend dining here, but recommend making a reservation.More
