My wife and I went here while on a trip to Charleston. This place is a Thai Fusion kinda place that has excellent flavors in the food. I had the Pad Thai which was "are you kidding me" kinda good. They also have a Basil Martini that is probably one of the best "spicy" drinks I've ever tasted. I'd love... More

Friends, if you are a fan of Thai cuisine, this place will knock those little socks right off of your feet! To start, PLEASE try the chicken coconut soup called Tom Kha Gai Tureen. I'm not a newbie to Thai cuisine, but I've never tasted this kind of quixotic mixture. It's sweet yet savory, hearty yet light. The soup comes... More

Basil is fabulous. We had two appetizers The Fresh Basil Rolls and the Wantons were nicely cooked. The flavors were fresh. The appetizers were a great way to start the meal with nice servings and not overwhelming on the appetite. I got the Ginger and my wife got the Basil Entrees. We ordered the entrees with pork and chicken. The entrees... More

We needed something different and love Thai so we decided to try Basil. The service was good and the food too. We shared an order of fried wontons and they were full of meat nit just cream cheese. The pad see ew was great as well.

Located on Kings Street, We ordered the Red Curry & Garlic Stir Fry over Romain lettuce. The taste were delicious and the price was right. Our servers were very attentive. I highly recommend Basil and will go back again and again.

Sit at the bar and watch them cooking the food, it's really cool. Restaurant was full but we were able to sit at the bar - Pad Thai and Massaman Chicken were excellent. Love the presentation of the Tom Yum Soup (very tasty). When we return to Charleston, we will definitely give Basil another visit.

Although not perfection as it was when it first opened around 15 years ago...it is still the best Thai Restaurant in Charleston, if not the entire state. The bar screened by glass is a great place to watch and eat, and its easy to stop a passing waitstaff person, when you need something. The food is plentiful, fresh and delicious.... More

This place is classy, but you can still drop in for lunch on a whim. Wide selection of drinks and the food was amazing. If you like pad Thai or wonton soup then it's a must. I will definitely be visiting again on my next trip to Charleston.

Base is a very busy place, but they took our party of 8 and fit us in for a late dinner. Nice service and great food.
