The buffet is offered no longer. Service was quite slow (25 minutes for (2) sandwiches and fries) and it's expensive for what you get. They're friendly, but this new plan is not going to succeed without some major changes.More

Thank you for your review. Yes, we are sad to say that after 40 years of the buffet being in business, we had no choice but to close that aspect of the business. The other side of the business you are referring to that won't succeed...More
We decided to stop in at a BBQ joint called Bessingers — another great decision! I had the pulled pork with baked beans and Peggy had the shredded chicken with potato salad; add to this a thickly coated onion ring, a sweet pepper, grilled onions,...More
Visited this place 5 years ago and the food was good. Saw the sign on our way to Charleston and had to stop. The food is still good. The BBQ smell outside the restaurant made our mouths water.

My husband was in the mood for a BBQ sandwich and Bessinger's on Savannah Highway is usually a reliable choice, so we chose to swing through the drive thru. We've been coming here off and on since we were in high school which was a...More

Not great. Kind of dirty inside. The food is just adequate. I had the chopped pork, which wasn't chopped, and it was pretty darn greasy. The ordering procedure and menu are incredibly confusing, and the people who work there aren't much help. I guess if...More
Excellent BBQ ($7-12), Pulled Chicken ($8-15) and even a 1/2 Smoked Chicken ($8). Great sides ($3)- Mac N Cheese, Collards, Hash & Rice, Onion Rings that will change your life (it's like dessert and a serving of veggies)! Yummy hand-pattied bacon cheeseburgers ($7-14).
We are a bar-b-que rib family but if you like pulled pork you won't be disappointed. The portions are large, and I have to admit I've never had onion rings like they serve here. It was a treat. Not like treational onion rings. That was...More
Two sides to restaurant. Left side is the dining room and the rigqht is the sandwich shop...both excellent. Also have a drive-thru!
Been here since the 1950's.
Baskets are filling.
Onion rings are like a slice of onion deep fried like a corn fritter! Yum!...More
