Cru Cafe is located in an old house. The kitchen is open and there is a chef's table so you can watch what is happening in the kitchen. Our waiter was very good and the food was excellent. Our only complaint was that the acoustics are a little noisy.

My wife had the 10 Oz sirloin steak which I sampled. It was excellent with a bit of a sage seasoning, cooked medium perfectly. Her side, the truffle fries also very good. I had the special, lamb shank, which was decent but a bit over done. I would definitely order the steak next time.

We sat at the Chefs table, which I recommend. The wait staff is great. My husband had the duck which he thought was very good. I ordered the seafood risotto and had issues. It was made with coconut milk and basil, so thought I was getting something creamy and Thai like. But as a risotto aficionado, it was not very... More

In an old house on Pinckney Street, with a porch for outside dining, Cru is famous for their Chinese cabbage salad and other good things.

Arriving at Cru Cafe we were asked if we had a reservation. Whoa! For lunch? I'm not sure I've been to many places where that's necessary but it is here. Fortunately, we didn't have to wait long to get a spot on the porch. We relaxed there and enjoyed a really delicious lunch. I had the fried goat cheese salad... More

Great lunch with friends! Go hungry! Loved the truffle fries, calamari and the best ever Caesar salad dressing. Nice wine selection.

We had a very delightful lunch at Cru Cafe. The shrimp BLT was delicious as was the special-of-the-day burger. It's a minor comment but they make perfect sweet tea! It's in a very convenient location next to the carriage ride companies so it makes a perfect lunch choice after a late morning carriage tour.

late dinner here last Friday night. we split the fried green tomatoes--they were really great. crunchy, with big pieces of pork belly, soft cheese and a tomato reduction sauce that was divine. we also split the Thai seafood risotto--shrimp, scallops, fish and mussels, which was also very good. have been here before and will return again. one of Charleston's best.

My husband and I go to Charleston frequently and were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. We both got the Chinese chicken entree and it was amazing. We will definitely return

We were 12 for a reserved lunch, but the AC upstairs died; so, we eventually ate in a crowded downstairs. Good food, but small space inside and hot outside. Good servers and fun to watch kitchen crew.
