We had noon reservations inside (good thing as it started raining and they quit sitting patrons outside). The dining area was a small room of an old house with many table crammed inside. The waitress was attentive and chipper! I had the Butter Lettuce Salad...with Poached Pears, Walnuts, Gorgonzola, Honey Sherry Vinaigrette. It was delicious. Other choices of my tablemates as well as those seated nearby all looked wonderful. Would recommend as one of your choices while visiting Charleston!More

We had a beautiful table outside in the back and it was a great ambience. We ordered the tomato, mozzarella salad and fried green tomatoes and they were absolutely divine! I had the schnitzel with the caper pasta and it was so yummy! Great Charleston...spot!More

Great location, great food and nice service. The duck was really delicious and perfectly cooked. Having a dinner in the veranda is definitely a great moment

We had a reservation and were seated reasonably quickly on a quite busy night. Our greeting was harried and cool, but our server was pleasant and efficient. We were seated in the main dining room, unfortunately right by a fireplace that constantly blew cold air...on both of us (it was not a warm evening). All courses were served in a timely manner, and everything was very good. My wife had the tomato soup and the house smoked salmon. She loved both, and the salmon plate was very generous. I had the duck breast, which was cooked perfectly, and it was the star of the plate as it should be. We shared a slice of orange sherbet cake for dessert; it was a bit dry and not great, especially for the high price. As far as we could tell, there is only one bathroom, so plan accordingly if it is busy. We may try Cru again on a less busy night; the harried atmosphere on our visit this time detracted from our entire experience.More

My daughter chose this for dinner when she visited me from NYC. One reason she chose it was that they had outdoor seating and she likes to bring her small dog. Well when she arrived with Oliver she was told dogs are not allowed so...we had the option of leaving or sending her partner home with the dog. Charleston is a very dog friendly town so this was disappointing. Her partner left with Oliver. It was kind of a bummer as I hadn't seen them for 6 months. My daughter and I had a very good pasta dish with shrimp. Shrimp were grilled. Portion was more than adequate. Wine by the glass was good. They didn't have soda water as they don't have a bar? I might return if I didn't have a dog but there are so many great restaurants here.More

Deliciousness pure and simple. Two of us shared four appetizers and sll were excellent. Their fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese are extraordinary in a town where everyone serves them. A super twist on calamari too. The bread pudding for dessert well worth the calories....Our server was energetic friendly and knows her business.More

Understated on the outside, you feel like you are arriving at someone's home. The atmosphere is casual and fun. We were served by Emily and she was wonderful. Helpful with menu review and other suggestions in town. Our food was delicious - fried green tomatoes...were excellent. Highly recommend this hidden gem.More

We had gotten a recommendation from a local to have lunch at Cru Cafe. We are sure glad we did! It was outstanding- located in an old house on Pinckney St it has only a small little sign on the side. Guess they don't need...a lot of signage to advertise because it was full. We were glad we'd made a reservation! We got the Mac & Cheese which the claim was that it was the best in Charleston- We would not disagree! Delicious! Also had the Fried Green Tomatoes- WOW they took the humble green tomato and transformed it into amazing. Of all the food we tried in Charleston, the Fried Green Tomatoes were our biggest surprise find, we all loved them. The truffle and parmesan fries were also a hit. Most of the group had salads that were very nice as well. Just don't think you could possibly go wrong here. Happy recommend Cru Cafe!More

We arrived without a reservation and the wait was 45 minutes. Once we were seated, the food and service made it totally worth the wait! Our server Sally was fun and engaging. We followed her recommendations and we’re not disappointed. Fabulous food!

Always a favorite spot in Charleston for lunch or dinner. I have been fortunate to try most things on the menu over the past several years and it never disappoints. Sally was an amazing waitress last night and the homemade pasta special with clams was...particularly memorable. As always, the truffle Parmesan fries and Mac and cheese were delicious. I got to try the fried chicken for the first time last night and it was fantastic. Hoping they bring back the mushroom truffle soup this fall/winter as it may be the best soup I have ever tasted.More

Our outside seating was very nice. Unfortunately, the service was slow and we waited 45 minutes for food on a slow Monday night. My daughter loved her fries and Caesar salad. Other daughter had pasta and it was so so. As recommended by the waitress...I had the pork tenderloin. I was surprised it was served cold and not flavorful.More

No. We went a few nights ago and had a small dog. We were sitting outside and told no dogs allowed. Very disappointing.
