Good food but the high pressure tactics are not appreciated. Want alcohol? No I don’t drink. Well, no non alcoholic beverages? No. Face of disapproval. The salmon comes with nothing which is ridiculous. Want sides - 8 bucks each. I get it it’s “fine dining”...(aka pay a ridiculous amount for a side of veggies) but if someone doesn’t want sides let it go. Is pressure really necessary? Don’t the servers make enough from most of the diners to not need to pressure the rest to order a ton of food they don’t want? That “you’re not spending enough” look and tone is so annoying.More

My husband and I have been going to this restaurant since we lived in Charleston 17 years ago. We finished our week long stay by dining here and wish we would have came earlier in the week so we could have returned for a second...time. Steak is always great but the chicken dish was the most amazing dish we had all week. We will definitely come back again and hope to very soon!More

My wife, our daughter, and I had a terrific dinner at the Peninsula Grill last night. From start to finish everything was just about perfect. Our drinks were excellent. Appetizers included lobster three-way (truly special); she-crab soup (lots of crab); and the wedge salad -...all delicious. Each of us has the scallops with lobster bits - excellent and followed up with coconut cake and an ice cream sunday and coffee. We were all extremely pleased with the food, drinks, atmosphere and especially the service. Chris was our waiter and it was a pleasure to be served by him. My only criticism was the fact the the a/c was a bit strong. Bottom line: the recently reopened Peninsula Grill is deserving of its reputation and well worth the visit!More

We walked in without a reservation. While there were plenty of open tables, we were told we could sit at the bar. Cory and Cassandra could not have been more welcoming or gracious. Unfortunately, that's where the great experience ended. The she crab soup was...too white and so heavy on sherry that it ruined the flavor. The grilled salmon was pretty but lacking in flavor. On the upside, we took a piece of coconut cake back to our hotel and it was yummy!!! For the amount of money you spend for a meal here, the expectation is that it would be beyond fabulous. Not the case here, but I would definitely go back to the bar!!😀More

We have been to this restaurant on past trips to Charleston and were really craving some coconut cake. We looked up the website and cAlled and both said you can place to go order or make a reservation. There was no mention of closure, so...my son and I walked over there to pick up our to go order that we placed on the voicemail, only to find the hotel and restaurant closed with no notices. I understand that Covid has closed many businesses but I don’t think it is hard to change messages and post on your website. Disappointed in one of my favorite places.More

For fine dining, we believe this is the best restaurant in Charleston, with Charleston Grill coming in close behind. They earn top marks for everything that matters - location, choice, food quality, service, ambiance, and price. I know there are other great restaurants in Charleston,...but we think of them as “specialty” restaurants, like seafood, or “Southern,” but for classic fine food, we think Peninsula Grill is world-class, and the best a great “foodie” city, which Charleston surely is!More
