The place is very charming and the prices are excellent, however, the food itself was pretty bland. I can't even remember what exactly we ordered -- shrimp and grits, cornbread, etc. -- because it wasn't very memorable.

Good biscuits and gravy. But not quite as good as mama's. Coffee is strong. Service was outstanding.

We stopped for breakfast at this charming little spot on a Saturday morning. It was very full, but the tables were turning quickly. Great menu and service.

It was our first time dining at this restaurant and we were impressed with the freshness of the food, friendly waitstaff, and design of the place. There are food options for meat eaters and vegetarians. The next time we're in Charleston, we will visit again. We hope to be waited on my Travis because he set the bar higher for... More

If you love good food definitely stop here. Off the beaten path in the neighborhoods of Charleston. Everything we had was great even the snack of boiled peanuts. As Southern as it gets. Shrimp and grits and chocolate pudding are SO GOOD. My husband thought the applesauce was the best thing ever.

Excellent service and food. This place is off the beaten path, but well worth the visit. You must try the tomato pudding and the chocolate pudding. They have either inside or outside dining.

We ventured to this restaurant as overseas visitors who was staying nearby. It was a Friday night and the hostess fitted us in without a reservation in a short wait time - very good service. We sat outside and it was quite pleasant in the balmy August early evening. But be prepared to ask for the mosquito repellent which the... More

We came for lunch and although it was super busy we didn't have to wait too long. There was a bar outside in the courtyard so that made it easier. We heard about and had the chicken biscuit. It came out quickly, as its their speciality, and it was super tasty. Didn't have much on the plate, just fried chicken... More

We eat here almost every time we come, but it seems like they are resting on their laurels now , so sad. I had the chicken fried steak and it was very grisly and tough. Don't think we will come back ....

Hominy Grill was a great choice for a good, low-country, hearty meal. The fried green tomatoes were excellent, as were our entrees (shrimp and grits / biscuit with chicken and gravy). The best things, however, were the desserts - the coconut cake and the chocolate pudding (which is really like a giant pot de creme). Service was attentive and friendly.... More
