We came as a group of 4 for brunch. We started with poutine which was pretty good, but the fries were shoestring fries and not very potato-y. For entrees we had two egg sandwiches, one garbage plate, and one chorizo dish. The egg sandwiches were straightforward and fine, the garbage plate was ok, but mostly corned beef, and the chorizo... Each day brings a new menu based on local produce. My perfectly seasoned pork was on a bed of apple butter, cauliflower, and fingerling potatoes. My husband found his quail dish to be delicious too. Don't pass up the in-house made bread pudding or snickerdoodle ice cream sandwich! The staff were welcoming and very friendly. It's pricy, but we'd go... More

We just returned from Charleston; had 6 dinners there. The Macintosh was our first dinner, and we loved The Mac! I did a lot restaurant research, and new this was a very important Charleston restaurant. Loved the King Street location; appealing to tourists and locals. Our Grouper entrée was one of the best sauces, we ever had on any fish... More

My husband and I had a great Christmas Eve meal at the Macintosh. It was a short walk from our hotel - Hyatt House Historic District. I have a small obsession with Gnocchi and the Ricotta Gnudi (very similar to Gnocchi) appetizer had a beef stew flavor and it was awesome! We also really enjoy the fall salad with mustard... More

Walk right up to the bar, sit in front of the best bartender in the world, Matt, and tell him all of your hopes and dreams. He'll find the perfect meal and drink creation to fulfill your heart's desires... Even on Christmas Eve. In fact, we left The Macintosh wondering if Matt was even a real person, or perhaps a... The Macintosh is one of our "musts" during visits to Charleston. I'm not a "foodie," but I hope I can recognize great food when I taste it. This place has it all - imaginative dishes with wonderful flavors, impeccable and knowledgable service, and a warm and pleasing atmosphere. They make a great dry Vodka Martini, and they have pimento cheese... More

If you follow my posts, you know I'm always looking for the best Happy Hour food where ever I am. This time I'm back in Charleston on business one month later and I caught a site in my search that said The Macintosh was ranked #3, Bacon Happy Hour, named because of Chef Bacon. With a Chef named Bacon...I was... More

Loved it. Farm to table. The food is eclectic. Menu changes everyday because it depends on what they get that morning and decide that morning. A good variety of red meat, fish or vegan.
