Atmosphere and service were fine, food was a waste of money. Fried items, such as clam cakes and fries, were edible. Lobster roll and coleslaw were disappointing, but stuffie and chowder were just terrible and I ended up throwing them away after a few bites....No flavor, no taste, no clam in them. Worst seafood shack I've ever been too. Waste of $40.More

Flo's in Middletown was on my personal "Bucket List" for many years, and today was the day!!! Unfortunately, my wife & I were HUGELY DISAPPOINTED!!! The "creamy" white chowder was watery (not thick), almost entirely potato soup, the tiniest amount of clams and "almost stale"...oysterette crackers. The stuffie was nothing more than breading, onions, paprika, celery and some green pepper--everything but the clams!!!!!!!!!! The 3 large clam cakes each only had about 4 clams apiece, and I kept tasting them 7 hours later. The 2 crab cakes were mass-produced on some assembly line, without ANY crab in them (but the remoulade sauce was good)--no taste at all. The only saving graces were the tree Jumbo Shrimp my wife had from the raw bar and Chris' (the upstairs bartender) Margaritas. DON'T WAST YOUR MONEY GOING TO FLO'S.....More

After being told by friends who ate here we couldn't wait once we arrived. What a disappointment. I'll start with the lobster roll. I've had them in Boston and Maine and theirs don't compare. For what they charge wasn't worth it. Roll not filled, very...skimpy on lobster. Next is their "famous" crab cakes. Really no meat in it, they say it's minced but didn't really taste much. More like a zeppole. Chowder was watery with very little clam in it. Don't know if it was an off day for them but we won't be going back, ashame.More

Over Priced For Bad Food- Really Bad Food! What used to be a good old fashioned spot after the beach has lost its sparkle. Frozen everything fish. The fisherman's platter was over cooked, under fished ( two shrimp, two clams, and a lot of over...fried rings - no calamari as described on the menu). The tartare sauce was Kens in a plastic tube - cole slaw was brown. The clam cakes were sinkers - heavy, oily and no clams. Lastly and most disappointing were the two lobster roll sandwiches - it was frozen lobster that was shredded and red - it looked liked it was died red in color on a cheap white hot dog roll. No lemon, no napkins, no plates, no ketchup, no mustard. The whole experience was overpriced and under-fished. There are many many other better places, cleaner and better in Newport and Middletown than this one. Very sad to see a landmark establishment become so run down. Way too expensive for what you get!!! Our family is in the food business, this is the worst seafood by far.More

Our food was fresh, delicious and authentic. It’s not a bargain or fancy. The service was efficient and respectful of COVID protocols. There were good outside seating options. They have their own parking lot in back which is convenient. I would visit again.

24.95 for baby lobster roll and fries. Disappointed at how small the lobster roll was; fries was the best part. Although It was fresh lobster, not much of it. More roll than lobster. And they put the butter on it for you which the roll...tasted like it had more butter than the lobster. You're better off going to Easton Beach (literally opposite side of the road) snack bar and getting their lobster roll and fries for 18.95. Plus you're right on the beach! The fish and scallops were the best thing on the fisherman's platter. Clams, shrimp and calamari were average. Clam cake was lacking clams. Overall a pricey mediocre meal with a shack feel. Went up stairs to order drinks but the bartender was no where to be found.More

Lots of people say this is the place to go. Well, I will not be back. I got whole belly clams that were ok. My friend got fried shrimp & clam chowder. The shrimp was awful & the chowder was all potatoes. I will say...the french fries were very good. But, I will not go back just for friesMore

You would think a place with words Clam Shack would be stellar. Well even if not stellar, how about good? Not this place. If you want clam strips, go anywhere else but here. I wish I had taken photos of what they served me for...my clam strip platter. It should be named clam breading platter. They "strips" were hollow. It was all breading. I'm kicking myself for not asking for my money back. Do not come here for clam strips. My first clue should have been the packaged Ken's Tartar Sauce. If a place that calls itself a Clam Shack cannot make their own tartar........that is a major clue! I will never, ever, ever set foot in this place again. I want others to know that the clam strips had no clams.More

Just ok. Family said their food was good, but they wouldn’t go out of their way to come back. I ordered Greek salad (granted, I am gluten-free, and a clam shack is not the best for us but I went with family). Most salad greens...were wilted, veggies were fresh, though...but my expectations weren’t that high anyways. If you’re a seafood lover, check it out, but if you have allergies, try another place. Nice views.More

The Classic Clear Clam Chowder was very tasty, That in itself was worth the trip. The Flo’s Fiery Stuffed Quahog was average at best. I would not order it again. The fried clams were tasty, not very big in size, but worth the trip.
