Have been coming to Newport for many years, but never tried Flo's. This trip, we made a point of trying new restaurants. Seeing Flo's getting rave reviews and being featured on TV, we thought we would try it. We had the clam chowder, clam cakes...and fried clams. Highly disappointed. Clam chowder was very tasty, however the clam cakes were nothing more than hush puppies with no clams. The fried clams were not good either. Beer was good. Ambience was good. Glad we tried Flo's, but I don't see it necessary to come back.More

My wife and I were looking for some fried seafood before getting on the road from our day trip to Newport. Flo's did not disappoint. We ordered a fried seafood combo plate with the intention of sharing it, seeing what we liked best and then...ordering an entree of whatever that turned out to be. It turned out that the combo plate was enough for both of us. The fried seafood was golden brown, not greasy, and did not have any hint of old burnt grease. The calamari, scallops and clams were excellent, the shrimp and fish were very good. Neither of us is a big fan of fried oysters. The fries were good as were the cocktil sauce and tartar sauce. The only negative was the coleslaw which was dryer than I like and tasted heavy on the celery see but we were not there for coleslaw. They had a bar and a raw bar upstairs but we did not partake. The decor had a nautical theme as you would expect except for a out of place looking Mardi gras picture. We would go again and recommend this to anyone looking for good fried seafood.More

We had a good time and a great meal at Flo’s. We had the clams and a crunchy fish sandwich. They came with fries and coleslaw. This is for sure a great place for dinner.

Went here to see what all the excitement was about. My wife and I were greatly disappointed. I ordered clam fritters, they came cool, and tasteless. Expected some bits of onion, celery. and most of all clams. It lacked even salt and pepper. Fried scallops...were smaller in size and cooked ok. French fries, cool and soggy. I know it's not a burger joint, but they made my wife's order of a cheese burger and it came out as some kind of fish cake. Redo of burger was about ten minutes. For all the hype, not that good.More

The BEST fried clam strips ever! Crispy with NO oil dripping from them (nor on the paper container they’re served in). Flo’s is 5 minutes from Newport harbor with a beautiful view of the water. It’s a no brainer: go to Flo’s and then take...a walk along the shore, inhaling the healthy air and appreciating the view. The wait staff are very friendly young college students.More

We ordered the Crispy Fish and Fries with Cole Slaw. The fish was not crispy at all. The fries were wimpy and the Cole Slaw had too much vinegar. We were very disappointed.

My family loved this restaurant. Eye candy inside. We sat outside. (It’s seat yourself.). You have to order & pick your food up at the front counter. (No paying a tip for a waitress.). We tried Clam cakes. I had Flo’s largest variety platter for...$32 or so. Melt kn your mouth food. Best calamari ever.More

Awesome seafood with a great ocean view from the upper deck! Sea scallops were tender and juicy and the haddock was just as good.

I read an article that said Flo's doesn't always have clams, but I didn't believe it. How can a place called Flo's Clam Shack not have clams in the middle of summer during tourist season? So I called them up and sure enough, they didn't...have clams, neither clam strips nor whole belly clams. I had heard so much about this place that I had to try it, so I ordered fish and chips. The fish had so much batter that I could barely taste the fish. It was overcooked too, as the batter was dark brown and hard. We also ordered a salad that they forgot to pack so we had to call back to get it credited back on our credit card. Quite disappointing.More

Pretty good for a causal bite. I had the fish sandwich, which was very good. Crab sandwich was ok as was the fried oysters.

The clam cakes were very doughy and huge. There wasn't much clam. The clam strips were really good. The burger and fries were just ok

I'd heard much about Flo's and had been hoping to visit and we finally did. I spent $180 for there today. The staff was fine but we were disappointed in the food. Having cold butter on a lobster roll is very strange. The lobster tasted...good but incongruous with cold butter. Things went off the rails with the whole belly fried clams. They were very chewy and over cooked, and the bread crumb coating tasted rather bitter. The tartar sauce was from Ken's of Ken's Steak House. It is terribly vinegary and not what you would expect from a classic place like Flo's. The clam chowder was quite good. I am sorry to have to write this but it is true.More

I loved the Lobster Roll. It did not disappoint! We had been visiting with friends and this was on my list before we went home. I can’t wait to come back. BTW the new lobster place around the corner did not have lobster. The wait...on line wasn’t great but in the end it was worth it.More

Everyone seems to give a lot of attention to the fried food but the baked was great! Fried foods get ordered downstairs, baked and raw bar ordered upstairs. Upstairs was a little gem. Overlooks the ocean and open air seating for part of dining area....Unfortunately it was a gray drizzly day and not super crowded. Very friendly at bar and server gave excellent suggestions for baked options. It was a tough choice deciding between fried vs baked, but it did not disappoint. Portion could have been a little bigger but it was probably healthier 😉. I chose the baked scallops and husband had baked swordfish, both nicely breaded and delicious. They came with a nice salad and choice of roasted potatoes or Spanish rice. We would definitely return and enjoy the atmosphere even more on a better beach day!More
