We decided to take a nice ride and go to The Tap Room for Newport Restaurant Week. They had a pre-fixed menu which was fine. Well we got our drinks and placed our 1st course choice. 2 bowls of pumpkin soup. As we were waiting the couple next to us was delivered their food. It appeared that someone's name tag... More

Ate dinner at the bar on a rainy Sunday night. The bartender made a delicious old fashion and was attentive and pleasant. The chowder was delicious as was the fish special, swordfish on risotto.

This inn has enviable, tranquil grounds with lovely views, and it has become (unsurprisingly) a wedding mill (though a local curfew insulates non-wedding guests from late-evening noise). Our room in the "Barn" was clean and spacious, but past renovations have divested the buildings of much of their character, and minor disappointments abounded (no electric outlet near our bed; a loveless,... A recent dinner at what should be a happening place as one of the few restaurants in Little Compton, left us feeling like we were second class citizens with all the attention focused on a wedding being held (as they appear often to be) on the premises. The menu is limited and expensive, the restaurant is in a dank/dark basement... More

My husband and I booked the Lantern room for an anniversary overnight and were simply appalled by what we experienced. We arrived on a rainy Friday night, and had a hard time figuring out where the entrance was (signage is unhelpful to nonexistent). We finally found the right door and entered a bare, uninviting lobby space, where the person at... More

We first stayed at the Stone House Inn in the summer of 2012 at the urging of my daughter and son-in-law who discovered the inn online. They are architecture and design nuts and fell in love with the contemporary redesign of the historic 1854 mansion. The rooms- really suites- were huge and beautifully decorated with enormous soaking tubs, small kitchens,... More

This was our 1st visit to Little Compton and we loved it!!! We read a terrific food critic article about Stone House and the Tap Room Restaurant and stopped in to have a drink and bite. The hostess and waitstaff were friendly and the food was out of this world! We ordered several appetizers to experience and was delic! Our... More

We have been to this charming little restaurant many times. The food is good, the atmosphere quaint and the location romantic. The fly in the ointment is the unmistakeable aroma of cat urine in the restaurant. I think it's in the carpet, maybe from a cat who got locked up over the winter. In any case, it's an issue for... We visited theTap Room for dinner while renting a house on the point this summer. We were a party of 4 on a not so busy Wednesday night. As we entered down the stairs into the dining room, we all noticed the horrible smell of a combination of mold and cat litter. Really, it was bad. That odor stayed with... More
