The Village Hearth is an unusually broad spectrum cafe. It bakes fine Italian and French breads. It sells excellent sandwiches and serves coffees and tea. On good weather, its deck is a great spot for leisurely conversation. The only negative is its short week. The Village Hearth is open Friday - Sunday.

Simply astonishing - I have never seen this kind of authentic European craftsmanship of food outside of Europe... and I am an E.U. citizen. To just chance upon it under a gorgeous wisteria trellis on the way to Jamestown's shoreline was almost as amazing as finding all the options for natural healthy baked goods they offer. And it all comes... More

We stopped here for breakfast & coffee and ended up going back the same night for the brick oven pizza! The eggs were the fluffiest I've ever eaten. Everything was delicious, the coffee was hot and the pizzas divine. This is a family owned/operated business that puts an emphasis on quality. Everything is made from scratch. Can't go wrong with... Great bakery, cafe, and more. Coffees, hot and cold drinks; breakfasts; paninis; desserts and pastries, breads, wood fired pizza, on and on... Friendly service and good, fresh food. Great outdoor deck eating area as well as indoor seating. A very enjoyable dining experience. Be sure to bring CASH. Plastic is not accepted here.

The young couple that own this bakery, knows how to bake. This is a quirky, garden setting business. There are a few small tables, inside and out. Most of their business, is take out. Grab a coffee, homemade pastry, or a loaf of bread. Couldn't ask for any better.

We stopped at the Village Hearth Bakery today for a quick sandwich lunch. We don't eat cheese and all their sandwiches had cheese on them, but they were very accommodating to meet our needs and readily removed the cheese from the sandwiches. They still tasted great! We also treated ourselves to their delicious baked goods... the chocolate biscotti was to... More

I have heard of this place from many people. We decided to stop on our way to Newport and on our way home. In the late morning, we tasted their sandwiches on homemade bread. I had the veggie (multi grain bread with avocado, cheese, tomato and yummy mayo) and my husband had the roasted turkey on plain baguette. I also... More

This is a lovely little bistro incorporated with and run as a family operation. Both husband and wife are bakers and bake the best breads in the state. All soups are homemade and yummy. A real sweet casual place to rest and have a bite of lunch or breakfast
