This gem is unassuming, quiet, and a bit tucked away, although it’s behind an Ace Hardware so it’s easy to find and there is plenty of parking. We ate in. It is calm and relaxing. No white tablecloths but very nice nevertheless. The service is sweet, discrete, and whispery. The table is watched so service is immediate and unobtrusive. Of course the food is the star. Many different delicious flavors that are delicate and subtle. Also many entrees are healthy, low fat, and low calorie as a natural outcome of a menu that is authentic Asian cuisine.

1st visit in search of Khao Soi

Thailand is my vacation go-to and after an early retirement it’s my 2nd home. I enjoy many Thai dishes but my favorite is a northern dish found predominantly in Chiang Mai & Chiang Rai; finding it the U.S. can be a needle in a haystack and even then an authentic version is not guaranteed. It was brought to my attention recently that Tổng D had added Khao Soi to their menu and although skeptical but just as hopeful, I ordered it for pickup along with Pad Kee Mao (another favorite), crispy spring rolls and gai satay. I was told 15 minutes and when I arrived in 20 minutes my food was waiting on the counter. The counter girls were so friendly and excited to meet an American that has traveled heavily through many different Thai provinces. When I returned home I was very pleased to find everything I ordered was outstanding especially the Khao Soi. There are many good Thai restaurants in the area with hard working friendly Thais I consider friends; but at the end of the day I have to go wear I feel most like I’m in the north of Thailand with authentic, delicious food and friendly Thai people I’ve come to love. Tổng D is officially my new go-to and I highly recommend. “Try the Khao Soi, It’s the best in the city.”😎

I was hangry & the green curry tasted so good

Recently I was visiting from out of town, exhausted from traveling and literally starving. This place was kind enough to let me and my family dine in (even though we had ordered carry out). The staff was very kind and it was the best Thai food I’ve had out of state (I’m from Virginia). Thank you so much Tong D.

Don’t waste your money

Don’t waste your money. I ordered Tom Yum soup with shrimp the soup had one shrimp. Really? I ordered steamed vegetables there was steamed lettuce leaves in there I was hoping for something a little bit more substantial Are you kidding me? Everything was pretty tasteless. I’ve given this restaurant several chances this is the last one. I’m done. Extremely disappointing

Best Thai Around

We often get take out but we enjoy the in-house dining experience as well. The decor is pleasant and immaculate. The food is always delicious, it’s fresh and plentiful. The staff is so polite and eager to please. It’s a wonderful casual evening out.

We love our Barrington Tong D! Never ever had a bad experience! The BEST Thai food ever!! Taken our friends and relatives all said it’s their fav place! Food is always hot extremely fresh and delicious! Great wine and spirit selection. They carry my fav Sauvignon Blanc too!

Wonderful Thai food in cozy atmosphere

Tong-D is a local favorite with a wide variety of Thai dishes and an extensive selection of specialty drinks. Fast, reliable service. The lunch specials are a great value. Love the vegan and gluten-free options. We always have some extra food to bring home.

Really disappointing

I have enjoyed this restaurant for years but tonight I had a very disappointing meal. One dish in particular was so spicy it was inedible. When we complained to the waitress-instead of replacing the dish or taking it off of our bill- the manager came to our table and insisted that we ordered the "extra spicy" version of this meal-- this was not true and we had no idea why she would say this. We paid for the dish, did not eat it, and felt unable to communicate with the staff. I wish someone could explain to the management- it was not worth arguing over a 12 dollar dish, the chef or someone made a mistake and a sound business practice is to make a new dish free of charge or remove the charge from the bill when the dish is left uneaten. We will not be returning and we had been extremely loyal customers. Please note Bees in Providence is a much better restaurant and Boss in Barrington seems to be a very acomodating place.

Tong-D definitely delivers with delicious fresh and tasty food. Order extra rice like at any Asian place. The vegetables and curry are soooo yummy. Veggies are super fresh and not overcooked. Tastes great as take out!

Great Thai food

Tong D is probably my favorite Thai restaurant. The food is always fresh and tasty, the staff friendly and accommodating, and the ambience serene. Special favorites are the spring rolls, scallop pancakes, crispy pad thai and basil fried rice.

Something seems to have changed!

Tong-D was one of my favorites, would have been 4-5 rating. However, in recent visits, 3-4 during the past 3 months, the chicken in the curries has been inconsisten—some very tender, some very tough! Not sure what happenned.
