It is true that I am not a fan of the area when it comes to eating in restaurants--I am a former chef who has lived in New York, LA, and San Francisco, so thss presents problems with comparisons. Nonetheless, Aria is the only restaurant...in the area that my family can eat at and always be happy (Azie is good, but crazy expensive and so not worth it). Particularly given the lowprices for their meals, there really is no place around here that compares to Aria. Also, the owner-chef, Azim, is incredibly kind, helpful, and flexible in so many ways. He also rightly takes pride in the food. When a cook has a personal investment in the food it is a good sign. However, if you are looking for fancy ambiance, this is not the place to go!More

We came for lunch based on reviews expecting a delicious meal. We ordered lamb gyro plate with tabbouleh and Greek salad with a starter of dolmas. We asked for the dolmas to come before our meal. The only employee working brought out our Greek salad...which was a sad, completely soggy limp bowl of lettuce and celery with a few olives and cherry tomatoes thrown in. Next came our cucumber salad (because they didn’t have tabbouleh). Then came the lamb gyro which was greasy and obviously reheated in a skillet. I finally asked if he had forgotten our dolmas (yes). A bit later they finally arrived and we mushy, falling apart and apparently reheated in the microwave. The babbaganoush and pita he brought before we ordered was the only delicious part of the meal. Maybe lunch is not the right time to go here - but we won’t go back to check on dinner.More

Great little place. Exceptional hospitality - I mean EXCEPTIONAL. The herbs in the dishes are quite good. Prices are great. Staff are AWESOME. And the food is great, too. Greek salad an hummus is to die for. Everything came to the table quickly. Peaceful place.

This is a pleasant place with great food. It serves a great variety of Mediterranean food. It also serves as a takeaway. The cocktail samosas is an absolute must.

Have you ever dined in a restaurant where you felt like you were a guest in someone’s home? It’s about the food. It’s about freshness, spices and a welcome hospitality rarely found in the world of restaurants today. The hummus is incredible. The lamb and...chicken perfectly seasoned and tender. Delicious grilled vegetables. Can’t wait to try the falafel next time. Seriously, you have to get to this place.More

As others have noted, there's not much in the way of ambiance, but the food is very tasty! I love the "side dishes" on the back of the menu-- a couple of them make a nice lunch, or order 4 (at a discount) if you're...hungry. The palak paneer was excellent as was the roasted eggplant salad, which was maybe a little bit too salty. Would definitely come here again on next trip to Swarthmore.More

Having tried all of Swarthmore's full table service restaurants multiple times, I believe Aria's food is the best. My favorite dish is the chicken kebab platter, which includes a selection of their delicious salads. The service is very friendly, thoughtful, and prompt, both in the...dining room and for take out. I think they could do even better by improving the ambiance of the seating area, perhaps with candles and more wall decorations and music.More

Aria offers an array of Middle Eastern dishes. From the basic hummus and baba ganoosh ( which ROCK) to tandoori chicken and kabobs. The service is fast and friendly. Prices are good too. I think this restaurant loses by offering too many choices. The tandoori...chicken I had for dinner was obviously warmed up, had an extremely dry, rubbery texture and no flavor. The rice was flavorless also. My boyfriend had a gyro and said it was pretty good. For basic noshes like hummus, baba ganoosh, gyros and salads ( tabouli was excellent) this place excels but their more complicated offerings are warmed up leftover tasting.More

Four of us found this nice little place while in the Swarthmore area. It was a Monday evening and not very crowded. We would highly recommend it for fresh, delicious Mediterranean dishes. Modestly priced adds to its desirability.

Fabulous food in the sit-down dining room or at the take-out case. Azim (the owner) is friendly, gives samples, is very enthusiastic about the food. Try the roasted corn salad, minty cucumber salad, the rice pudding and the fabulous gyros and souvlaki.

A friend and I ate at this restaurant for the first time last week before going to the Spotlight Theater down the street. We both got the Koubideh- and it was really delicious. And the corn salad was fabulous. It's more like a luncheonette type...place- but if you're not looking for ambiance and just really good food and really good prices- I suggest you try it. And the marble halava is scrumptious.,More

as others have said, this place doesn't look like much, but the food was very good. servers friendly and the meals reasonably priced. Not a place I'd want to go to on a date, but if you are touring the school it's a great spot...to have a nice mealMore

My daughter and I had a late lunch here after touring Swarthmore College. This place doesn't look like much when you first peek in the door, but the food is very good and reasonably priced. They have take out, or you can dine in. We...dined in. It was nearly 2:00 in the afternoon, so the place was almost empty. I had a gyro, and my daughter had a salmon kebab sandwich. Both were very good. But the best part was the baklava. We split one because the pieces are large. It was not too sweet, which baklava often is, and that is why it was so delicious. I don't know if they put more nuts in it or what, but it was the best baklava I have ever had, and I grew up next door to a Greek family. The waiter was very friendly also. I definitely recommend this place if you find yourself in Swarthmore.More
