Staff is rude and dismissive even in an empty restaurant food was bland and cold and they were not accommodating to my back problems despite the restaurant being mostly empty don't waste your time or money they may have gator but all you taste is cold batter

Food was okay but at premium prices for a college town. Service was okay at best, given the establishment's reputation. Still trying to figure out why they wanted to seat 2 large business men at a semi circular table with a side by side (romantic) plate setting. Probably won't make return visit.

We have been to Spats dozens of times and I have noticed over the last couple of trips that the the prices have gone way up. It used to be that my wife and I could eat a nice meal with a bottle of wine and the check would be under $100 but now its more like $150. They don't... More

I couldn't wait to write a review. We walked past it durning the day and I didn't think much about it but as we left after dinner we were all raving. Comfortable atmosphere, excellent food, excellent server (Alex). Can't wait to go back.

Spats has a New Orleans theme and some of the food follows in this direction. All of it is well prepared and presented. Location right downtown on College Avenue where the action is. Those with a timid palate might think a few dishes are spicy, others of us call that flavor. They have been around a while, and the chef... More

I can't believe how many times I've walked by this restaurant and not tried it. In truth, I was there once about 25 years ago and don't remember a thing about it except that it was expensive. Mind you, I was 18 at the time and an unemployed student with no appreciation for this type of cuisine. Now many years... More

This place is right downtown of Penn State. Food was great but the prices were on the higher side. The drinks were pretty good.

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised at Spats this evening. The experience was worth every penny! Our waitress's name was Jade and she was perfect in every way...she knew the menu, was pleasant and not overbearing and was mindful of our needs. She responded in genuine happiness for us as she noticed we were wowed by each delivered course.... More

Great find while visiting Penn State. Dirty Jambalaya and Crab on Portabella Mushroom were excellent. Chopped salad to start and lemon sorbet before the meal. Looking around, meals presented to other tables also looked great.
