The grilled stickies buns are still great. They are a sour dough cinnamon roll but in a rectangular shape. I used to go to the diner when I was in college YEARS ago. The dinner still has the same retro feel.

Everything was fine, except the air conditioning was not working. The weather outside was not extremely warm, but the restaurant was hot inside. It could have been just bad timing on our part, but rumor had it that the owner didn't want to turn the A/C on; no clue. Service was not fast, but within reason. Lots of food for... More

The air conditioning was either was broken or not turned on when we were there so could have been more comfortable. Staff was pleasant. Don't go in if the door is propped open.

My family went here for a Friday evening dinner and we were well pleased. It was my wife, two sons (two and a half and six months), and I that ate there. We had just missed the dinner rush I suppose (we arrived around 6:30pm), because it was near empty. The hostess was polite and served us quickly. The food... More

I'll give SCD an average because the food wasn't bad and it wasn't very expensive but the service nearly dragged us down to a fair or poor rating. The waitress was alone and unable to cope with the crowd. She was moderately friendly and up front about her predicament but couldn't even get us a second cup of coffee the... More

We met family for a weekend visit at Penn State and decided to try the State College Diner out before leaving. We knew it would be busy (it’s Sunday in State College,10-18-15). We were prepared to wait. There were 5 of us, plus a high chair. I went in alone to put our names down. There was what seemed like... More

We stopped in for a late dinner on Sat 10/24/15. Upon entering there is a sign to please wait to be seated. There were 3 other tables occupied. I stood there several minutes waiting to see an employee. My fiancé parked the car and joined me in my wait to be seated. During our wait for a table, we reviewed... More

If you want to avoid downtown State College traffic, this is a good start. Parking is plentiful, easy and free as it is located in a shopping mall area. The food is very good, and the service is fast. We went on the Sunday of homecoming weekend, and although it was crowded, the tables were cleaned off very quickly and... More

We stopped here for breakfast on May 23rd, only because Ihop had a so called fire. Got seated right away. Had to wait for the waitress. Ordered our food. Waited. Got our food which was good. I was pleased with the food. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. Finally another waitress asked if we wanted boxes. She got us... More

I love the mom and pop places, even more so when I'm traveling. The value for the portion sizes were great. I had the chicken croquettes, which were excellent. It included two sides and soup or salad. The clam chowder was awesome.
