Tried calling for over 20 minutes to place a take out order. Phone was constantly busy. Finally got through only to be placed on “hold”, which meant the phone was put on the counter so I could hear everything going on, for another 10 minutes....Finally got a person, told her I wanted to place a takeout order, and was informed I would have to wait 2 hours for the next available takeout time. Two hours for a burger and sandwich! There’s a problem here. I realize that Covid has changed our lives, but either they need more help at the front of house, or more help in the kitchen. Glad they are overwhelmed with orders, but I will never try to eat there again.More

We're sorry for your recent experience and understand your frustration. Believe me this is not the way we like to conduct business. We are a small restaurant and have been in business for over 20 years. Covid has changed our lives and our business forever....More

take out service was excellant (corona virus mandates take out only). We had breaded shrimp and breaded fish and garlic mashed potatoes and cole slaw and he added several packages of Oreol Cookies--- nice touch. Service was right on time! Highly recommend them for take...out service. Enjoyed their sitdown meals in the past. Nice atmosphere. service for sitdown (when it was available) was a little slow.More

First visit on 11/17/19 when driving through Saltburg on Sunday night. Had never been on Point Street. GPS took us to the Olde salt. Everything about the experience was superb. These include the unique quaint old building, attention to our needs, excellent fish and shrimp,...chicken noodle soup, home made chips, side salad, cheddar mash potatoes, and coconut cream pie. (Pie was to go. We were so full.) The portions were very generous. The bowl of soup was more like a bucket of soup. All the food tasted great. Tasty light breading on the fish and shrimp and not greasy at all. The soup had many noodles and not salty at all. Big bowl of taters. It made such an unexpected special Sunday night dinner. Looking forward to returning for the hot roast beef. Will be sure to make reservations. Thank you!More

We're so happy that we were able to make your evening special. Our chef works very hard to create dishes that have become most popular among returning guests. These include our fish, shrimp, and hot roast beef entrees. Being a small restaurant we can fill...More

There are a group of women that meet once a month for breakfast, lunch or dinner. This month we had lunch, unfortunately, only 3 of us were able to attend. We had a very nice lunch at the Olde Salt Restaurant. The food was delicious...and portions were huge. My only complaint was that after our meal, we paid the bill and were enjoying conversation and the waitress asked if we needed anything in a tone like we should leave if we are done with our meal. The place wasn't full and no one was waiting to be seated, I didn't see why the need to send us on our way, but we promptly left. Other than being given the bum's rush, all else was great!More

I had never been to this place before although it's close to my home. I was immediately impressed with the charm, cleanliness, and kindness of the staff. The Sunday brunch buffet itself is something to behold. Included in the buffet is two eggs made anyway...you like them brought tableside. And it only gets better from there. the buffet at self had plenty of French toast sausage bacon. the buffet also included chicken tenders which were by far the best I've ever eaten anywhere in my life. They had hot wings (dry rub) which were also very tasty. They had plenty of sweets, including but not limited to, fruit, mini eclairs, cinnamon rolls (really good), and brownies (absolutely amazing). something else they had on the buffet which they don't have all the time but I would hope in the future (possibly after seeing this review) that they would have. Soft pretzel sticks and beer cheese! They were awesome. Overall all the food was very tasty, very fresh, and very plentiful. as I mentioned earlier the staff was very accommodating and kind. I would recommend a visit here 100%. A word of caution timing is everything when you visit this place. There's not a ton of seating and they do get your typical Sunday rushes, such as the post church crowd. The manager did indicate to me that it also gets a lot busier in September and forward as people come off of vacations and what not.More

Had nine people waiting for a table for almost two hours. Then once people left that was eating the owner made everyone stand and wait until they cleared all tables. Once the tables were cleared he then came out to call on reserved tables knowing...that people have been standing waiting for two hrs for a table. Horrible owner had no customer skills at all.More

Yes, we did have people waiting for tables in our lobby on Sunday morning between 11:30am and 12:30pm. By 11:00am our restaurant was completely full as we just seated our last two reservations for a party of (7) and a party of (16) in our...More

We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday Brunch buffet in this historic old building. There was free parking at meters on the street in town on Sunday. We sat in a room in the back with large windows facing a grassy/tree/green lot. We went with friends who...had made reservations and we were called to our table on schedule. The server first takes your order for any style eggs and choice of toast. Those items are made-to-order in the kitchen as you help yourself to a delicious assortment of quality home cooked foods! There were 3 types of soup, Wedding, Chili, and Broccoli Cheese, huge Cinnamon Rolls topped with berries, Homemade Biscuits, Sausage Gravy, Thick fluffy slabs of French Toast, homemade thick, tasty sausage patties, bacon, 3 types of home fries including sweet potato! There was also a small salad bar which had fresh fruit. Desserts were homemade, delectable, thick, fudgy brownies and small eclairs. The food, service and atmosphere were all fantastic! I've been raving to everyone about this wonderful restaurant and plan on coming back and bringing some new friends to share this homey, comforting, filling, enjoyable brunch experience! NOTE: Our GPS took us to the wrong location when I entered the address. We ended up heading to the left out of town after crossing the bridge and on 1st. Ave./St. where there was a SIGN for the restaurant posted on the corner lot of a gray house. The restaurant is NOT there! It is located on Point Street, directly in the middle of the historic old 'downtown' Saltsburg district which has street/metered parking and brick sidewalks, if that helps anyone! :) See my photo of the front of building/sidewalk.More

This is a place to eat if you want to feel like you are having lunch or dinner at the house of your aunt and uncle. Regis and Nancy treated us like we were part of their family. The food is pure homemade comfort food...that is cooked with loving care. I loved the big burger steak. The steak salad was good too. The surprise for us was the pianist. Claudia played our requests and played them beautifully. She not only plays very well but is funny and entertaining. We hope to return soon and of course have dinner being entertained by your pianist, Claudia. Although Saltsburg is a small place the Old Salt Restaurant is a big asset.More
